Beijing, 22nd May, 2019, (BISTU)— The Third BISTU Culture and Art Festival, attended by Secretary General Wang Chuanliang, President Wang Yongsheng, Vice President Liu Yong, and Vice President Chen Gang and hosted by Vice President Xu Baojie, welcomes the grand opening ceremony with exotic performances by international students.
Wang Chuanliang announces opening of International Cultual Week and starts the globe symbolizing opening ceremony together with other senior administrators.
Wang Yongsheng addresses the opening ceremony. He says that on the opening of Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations, President Xi Jinping has pointed out that various civilizations are not destined to clash as long as people were able to appreciate the beauty of all civilizations. As passeur of knowledge and disseminator of human civilization, BISTU has always attached great importance to global horizon and cultivation of inter-cultural communication competence of students. Since 2017, the University has started annual activities for International Cultural Week to facilitate mutual learning and communication amongst students of all countries, enhance intercultural communication competence, and build an internalization campus with diversified cultures and harmony. This International Cultural Week, themed on “friends are not measured by distance and long distance cannot separate friends sharing one heart”, is focusing on diversity, equality and communication. The University will take this precious opportunity to further perfect collaboration and communication platforms for educational globalization, build a campus culture of openness, inclusiveness, diversity, and dedication, and offer an even better learning environment for all students.
Aisuluu, representative of international students in her speech extends thanks to the University for offering her the opportunity of learning and exchange. She says that she does not only learn knowledge at BISTU but also knows more about Chinese culture and makes friends with students from all around the world. BISTU is a home away from home. They love the new home and they are grateful to dedication and devotion of all faculties and staff. They will for sure become active disseminators of Chinese culture.
On the opening ceremony, BISTU senior administrators respectively present award certificates for winners of the first, second, and third prizes of Contest for Chinese of International Students.
Following the opening ceremony, senior administrators and honored guests are shown around exhibition stands of international students to enjoy delicious foods and handcraft works of various countries.
International Cultural Week, an annual event which has been hosted by BISTU since 2017, with a series of activities such as Chinese contests and exhibition of international culture, is aimed at giving faculties and students a closer look at diversified cultures and art and jointly building a campus culture of inclusiveness, openness, diversity and dedication.
