BISTU Holds Meeting on Undergraduate Admissions in 2020

Beijing, 28th October, 2020 (BISTU)— Chaired by Deputy Secretary Zhou Zhicheng of CCP BISTU Committee, BISTU Conference on 2020 Undergraduate Admissions successfully completes on 28th October 2020 on Xiaoying Campus. The Conference, attended by Secretary Wang Chuanliang of CCP BISTU Committee, President Wang Yongsheng, Vice President Zhang Lin, directors of divisions and offices, deans of schools, chairs of departments, and other faculties and staff, aims at summarizing issues of 2020 undergraduate admissions and making new plans for 2020 admissions.  




Zhang Lin announces the decision on commending collectives and individuals of excellence in 2020 undergraduate admissions and the awards are presented by Wang Chuanliang.  


Wang Yongsheng speaks very positively of the achievements the University has made on 2020 undergraduate admissions and extends sincere thanks to all faculties and staff of admissions. Wang Yongsheng offers a detailed analysis on reform of admissions which has brought along a new situation for all universities. Previous university-centered admissions have now been transformed into specialty-centered admissions and the reform definitely would lead to a new round of development of education quality in universities. New policies lay much focus on market and demand and then reform of teaching and education in higher educational institutions has become very necessary.  

Based on status quo and future development of the University, Wang Yongsheng analyzes the new questions and new challenges with which BISTU faces in respect of education, academic disciplines, academic programs, and talent cultivation, i.e., deeper reform requested for supply-side reform on academic programs, innovation requested for model of talent cultivation, and enhanced effectiveness requested for publicity of admissions. With regard to these issues, Wang Yongsheng says that the following three aspects deserving enough attention from us: first, deepening supply-side reform on academic programs; second, deepening reform on model of talent cultivation; and third, adopting diversified, innovative means of publicity in admissions.  


Li Qing, a faculty of Artificial Intelligence shares the experience in admissions quality. Li Honghai, a faculty of Industrial Design, shares the experience in participating in admissions publicity. Vice Dean Li Xuehua of School of Communication Engineering introduces their experiences in talent cultivation and admissions publicity.
