Delegation of Social Affairs Department and Policy Research Center of Ministry of Civil Affairs Visit BISTU

Beijing, 9th June, 2020 (BISTU)—Delegation of Social Affairs Department and Policy Research Center of Ministry of Civil Affairs, i.e., Director General Wang Jinhua of Social Affairs Department of Ministry of Civil Affairs, Director General Wang Jiexiu of Policy Research Center of Ministry of Civil Affairs, Director Li Jie of Information Center of Social Affairs Department, and Deputy Director Cao Fenghong of Comprehensive Affairs and Relief Efforts Office of Social Affairs Department, visits BISTU for survey purpose and meets with President Wang Yongsheng and Vice President Yu Shijie. The survey is attended by Office for Scientific Research, School of Computer Science and School of Media and Public Administration.  

  

Following his introduction to BISTU, Wang Yongsheng extends thanks to Ministry of Civil Affairs for the care of and support with BISTU in respect of construction of Research Center for Social Service Development in New Era and “information plus civil affairs” research collaboration. Wang Yongsheng hopes that both parties would jointly conduct relating studies on new model of civil affairs with information as the fulcrum in the New Era. “Smart plus social service” shall be our common goal and cross-disciplinary studies are needed for the academic field of engineering, science and humanities. And efforts shall also be invested in the new model for artificial intelligence to serve social management.  

  

Yu Shijie offers an introduction to educational features of the University and achievements that BISTU has made in studies on the new generation of information technology.  

  

  

Wang Jinhua and Wang Xiujie speak highly of cross-disciplinary studies based on artificial intelligence at BISTU and hope that research teams of the University would bring their strengths into full play and work with relating departments and offices of Ministry of Civil Affairs. This would be joint efforts to facilitate informatization, intelligence and modernization of social service and would produce feasible solutions to a number of problems with which civil affairs face in information era.  

  

Both parties agree to jointly build Research Center for Social Service Development in New Era with focus on social service supported by information technology. This is a new area with huge social demands and it would help realize modernization and intelligence of social governance. It would also facilitate academic disciplinary construction and research team building at BISTU.
