BISTU School of Automation Teams and Faculties Shine in Design Competition of Lab Teaching in Electrical Electronic Field of National Higher Educational Institutions

Beijing, 29th May, 2020 (BISTU)— A number of BISTU teams and faculties are honored on the 7th Dingyang Cup Design Competition of Lab Teaching in Electrical Electronic Field of National Higher Educational Institutions, i.e., first prize winners are Wang Yang and Wang Lixia of the teaching team of national lab teaching center for electronic information and control at School of Automation, third prize winners are Zhou Suhua and Xu Xiaofei, the School of Automation is granted the award for organizing excellence, and Wei Ying of the School is awarded for excellence of individual organizing.


The Competition is sponsored by Steering Committee in General Education Course of Electrical and Electronic Studies of Ministry of Education and National Association for Model Centers of Lab Teaching and organized by Beihang University. Influenced by the coronavirus epidemic, the Competition is run in the form of online-meeting. It receives 112 pieces of works submitted by 32 universities from 4 provinces, including Tsinghua University, Beihang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing Jiaotong University, North China Electric Power University, Tianjin University, Nankai University, etc.

The University has attached great importance to cultivation of talents with competence in innovation. We have been guiding faculties in exploring new ideas, new methods and new means in teaching so as to deepen reform of class-teaching, facilitate in-depth integration of information technology and teaching, and enhance the capacities in using information technology. The faculties are encouraged, via attending various teaching competitions and demonstration of model classes, to conduct reform on teaching methodology. A number of new teaching methods have been applied in our education, such as case studies, mission-driven (project) teaching, discussions, heuristic teaching, research-oriented teaching, and integration of industry-school-research.

This Competition further facilitates exchange and communication between BISTU and higher educational institutions in North China, expands our academic influence, and demonstrates our achievements in respect of reform of lab teaching. Meanwhile, it has important implications for the University with regard to improving the quality of field teaching, promoting innovation of teaching models, promoting construction of general education courses in some professional fields, strengthening teaching competences of faculties, and constantly enhancing the quality of talent cultivation.
