Beijing, 9th December, 2019 (BISTU)— “The ‘Dullest’ Robot of the World--- AIS Robot”, a project of BISTU, is honored with national bronze award in the finals of China Internet Plus College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest. BISTU and Beijing University of Technology are the only two institutions among peer universities supervised by Beijing Municipality which have won prizes in the finals of such national contests.
Based on flexible design, integrated control of multi-sensors, 3D in-depth dynamic trueing, machine vision, deep learning, and OCR technology, AIS robot is a full-automatic smart-scanning robot and is capable of non-contact scanning and smart management and analysis of digital documents. It is a core product of Beijing Qianxun Future Technology Co. Ltd., one of teams of BISTU Flying Wings Plan. It was founded by Yi Yuanlin, a BISTU graduate and Liu Xing, a core R&D fellow is also a BISTU graduate. It wins 20 million Yuan of angel round financing in June 2019.
China Internet Plus College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest of this year attracts 1.09 teams composed of 4.57 million students from 4093 institutions from 124 countries and regions of the world. The numbers of projects and students are close to the total of the four previous contests and it has now become the most influential innovation and entrepreneurship contest in China.
BISTU attaches great importance to education of innovation and entrepreneurship. The Contest has attracted over 100 teams from the University. As early as in March 2019, organizing work on the Contest has initiated at BISTU. The past eight months have witnessed preliminary contest at BISTU, contest of Beijing section, and the finals of China. A series of activities have also been arranged to support students. BISTU teams have won one First Prize, two Second Prizes and 16 Third Prizes in Beijing section and the University also is honored with the Award of Organization of Excellence. Following Tsinghua University, BISTU is recommended to the finals of National Contest. Since the first Contest held in 2015, BISTU has won 60 awards of municipal level and three bronze medals in the national finals.
China Internet Plus College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest, initiated in 2015, is jointly sponsored by 12 ministries, inclusive of Ministry of Education, and a number of provincial governments in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. The Contest aims at deepening comprehensive reform of higher education, motivating innovation capacity of university students, nurturing students for “mass entrepreneurship and innovation”, facilitating development of Internet Plus, and promoting the quality of students’ employment upon graduation from universities.
