BISTU Successfully Host National Young Scholar Forum for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics 2019

Beijing, 22nd November (BISTU)— Sponsored by Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and co-organized by Youth Committee of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, BISTU, and Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, National Young Scholar Forum for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics 2019 successfully completes at BISTU. The Forum is chaired by Prof. Wang Xuan, Director of Youth Committee of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and addressed by Vice President Yu Shijie of BISTU.  

  

In his address, Yu Shijie particularly points out that President Xi Jinping has attached great importance to development of new generation of artificial intelligence, i.e., artificial intelligence is playing the role of a “bellwether” in the new round of science and technology revolution and industrial revolution. It indicates ardent anticipation upon young scholars in promoting development of artificial intelligence and robotic technology. Following his brief introduction to BISTU, Yu Shijie reviews academic achievements of the University in artificial intelligence and robotics and extends sincere thanks to experts and scholars for their support with this field.  

The forum is also attended by a number of BISTU faculties, including Director Mi Jie of Academic Affairs’ Office, Deputy Director Wu Yingnian of Academic Affairs’ Office, Secretary Cao Jinhong of School of Automation Commission of CPC BISTU Committee, Dean Su Zhong of the School, Vice Dean Gao Jingmin of the School and Vice Dean Yi Junkai of the School. The opening ceremony is hosted by Chen Wenbai, Vice Dean of the School and Deputy Director of Youth Committee of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence.  

 

   

A number of keynote speeches on empowerment of artificial intelligence in transportation and health care, self-adaptive control of multi-models, digital infusion technology in smart hospitals, problems and exploration of deep neural networks, deep intelligent sense technology and application of hidden information in massive internet data, and studies of hand rehabilitation robot are delivered by Prof. Wang Xuan, Director of Youth Committee of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and Dean of School of Computer Science of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Prof. Li Xiaoli from Beijing University of Technology (Deputy Director of Faculty of Information and Dean of School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation), senior specialist Liu Zhongxin in the field of medical infusion pumps and founder of Lifepum, Prof. Huan Jun (Ph.D. supervisor, Director of Beijing Big Data Lab of Baidu, tenured professor of University of Kansas), Prof. Yi Junkai (Vice Dean of School of Automation of BISTU), and Prof. Cheng Long from Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences.  

The Forum also invites winners of 2019 North China Five Provinces Robotics Competition for University Students to deliver report and exchange ideas with young scholars in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics.  

   

The forum, gathering preeminent experts and young scholars in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics, produces a platform of exchange and cooperation for young scholars to obtain a comprehensive understanding of development strategy, talent cultivation, and academic research in this field. Experts and young scholars from over 30 universities and institutes of China conduct fruitful discussion on the topic “Smart Plus and Innovation Plus”, which offers a valuable opportunity for BISTU faculties and students to learn about the latest progress in this field. It also plays an active role in building the image of BISTU as well as the image of the academic discipline of artificial intelligence and robotics at BISTU.
