Following the opening ceremony, Zhao Chunyu delivered a keynote report on “Assessment of university competitions in China and studies on robotics competitions” which covered three aspects, i.e., assessment of competitions for university students, indexes of robotics competitions, and influences of such competitions.
The theme of the Competition was “Intelligent manufacturing for future China”. It was aimed at motivating students to explore applications of robotics and artificial intelligence so as to serve our nation and build new, future life. The Competition set innovative design in artificial intelligence and robotics. A platform has been ready for over 1300 teams from more than 80 universities of China to show their creativity in scenarios of applications for high-level robots and artificial intelligence.
The North China Five Provinces University Students Robotics Competition was co-sponsored by Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, Hebei Province Education Department, Shanxi Education Department, and Inner Mongolia Education Department. The first session was held in Beijing by BISTU in 2013 and since then it has been organized by BISTU for 9 successive years. The Competition aimed at improving science and technology qualities and academic research competences of university students, promoting science and technology exchange and communication among universities, deepening reform of talent cultivation in universities, bringing the role of artificial intelligence and robotics technology in economic development and social advancement into full play, and guiding university students to engage themselves in innovative or entrepreneurial activities.
