Beijing, 20^th September 2024 (BISTU)--- Stanford University and Elsevier Data Repository published Stanford University Top 2 % Scientists List 2024 on 16^th September 2024.

According to the list, 9 scholars are selected in seven areas, i.e., Networking & Telecommunications, General Physics, Analytical Chemistry, Optoelectronics & Photonics, Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing, Mechanical Engineering & Transports, and Applied Physics. Chen Xin, Zhu Lianqing, Chen Ying, Wen Xiaoyong, Yue Xinwei, Liu Yahui, and Hao Yuxin were selected for single year list and Prof. Wen Xiaoyong and Prof. Guo Fu were listed as career-long world top 2% scientists.

The year 2023 saw 7 BISTU scholars on the list and one on the career-long list. Young and middle-aged scholars listed account for 80%. It shall be noted that Prof. Wen Xiaoyong was newly listed as a career-long world top 2% scientist, reflecting the development momentum of the University in promoting integration of education, sci-tech, and talent.

As one of the most influential academic assessment system, World’s Top 2% Scientists was based on Scopus, the largest citation database of the world. In view of six indexes including citations, H index and HM index, the assessment named top 2% scientists to the list out of around 7 million scientists in 176 sub-areas of 22 research fields. It fell into two categories, i.e., career-long impact (based on comprehensive influence of academic careers) and sing-year impact (based on annual academic achievements), which served as a standard to measure long-standing academic research performance.

Future endeavor of the University would be invested in quality-oriented development centering on the objective of building a high level university of applied learning with distinctive feature in information technology.
