Prof. Li Fudong Won First Prize in Scientific and Technological Innovation of China Electricity Council

Beijing, 12th January 2026 (BISTU)--- The research project headed by Prof. Li Fudong of BISTU College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering won a First Prize in Scientific and Technological Innovation of China Electricity Council, according to a recent notice published by the Council. It is the first time that BISTU won a first prize in this area as the primary completing institution. BISTU is also the only university administered by Beijing Municipality to receive this award.

Substations, converter stations, and high-voltage transmission lines are critical equipments concerning power grip safety protection. Research Team headed by Prof. Li Fudong, working together with China Electric Power Research Institute, provided solutions to key technological problems such as object identification, edge intelligence, coordinated safety protection, etc.

China Electricity Council (CEC), founded in 1988 with the approval of the State Council of China, is a non-profit and self-disciplinary national trade association of China's power enterprises and institutions. The award was aimed to enhance independent innovation capability and promote scientific and technological development of electric power industry.

College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering would continue to strengthen the integration between conventional academic disciplines of strengths and strategic emerging industries, promote coordinated innovation, and deepen sustainable cooperation with enterprises to contribute to construction of a new energy system and a new power system with digitelligence empowerment.
