BISTU Score in Surfing-Huawei Cup Computer Application Contest in North China Five Provinces
Sponsored by Education Commissions of North China Five Provinces, Surfing-Huawei Cup Computer Application Contest successfully concluded recently. Organized by School of Information and Communication Engineering, BISTU’s five teams scored excellently with one gold medal, three silvers and 1 bronze. Prof. Wang Yafei and Prof. Li Zhensong were awarded Supervisor of Excellence by the Contest Organizing Committee and BISTU was awarded Organization of Excellence.
This 5-month grand contest included 441 teams sent by 120 universities from the five provinces and Taiwan region. The theme was confirmed as “Innovative Applications and Programming for Mobile Devices”. This contest initiated in 2010 and expanded to Taiwan region in 2012. BISUT scored gold medals in all three contests.
According to Wang Yafei, a series of software designed by BISTU students, after being awarded by the Contest, has been commercially available on internet, including Chinese Painting, GPA Calculator, etc. Students had their theories practiced during the contests and learned how to combine the knowledge with actual social needs.
