Beijing, 15th January 2024 (BISTU)--- Led by Peking University and joined by BISTU, Beihang University, and Transcend Vivoscope, Beijing Laboratory of Biomedical Imaging was officially approved by Beijing Municipal Education Commission.

The Laboratory aimed at safeguarding health and life of people and has developed a series of new ideas, new methods, and imaging system with proprietary intellectual property rights to meet the demand of diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of complex diseases and cerebral studies. With contribution of the Laboratory in high-end biomedical imaging, the barrier between fundamental research and clinical science was virtually smashed, which laid a solid foundation for development of biomedical technology and industry in Beijing. It would serve as a driving engine for development of leading-edge medical instruments.

Picture 1: Research interests of the Laboratory include hollow-core photonic crystal fiber, flexible fiber bundle, micro-scanning device, and micro-objective lens.

Picture 2: Research interests of the Laboratory also include new-generation multi-photon microscopic imaging system, real-time observation and monitoring of neuron activities on brains of free-movement animals, etc.

The Laboratory was the third Beijing Lab to which School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronics Engineering contributed, following the lab of “fiber sensing and system” and the lab of “biomedical examination and measurement technology and instrument”. It symbolized a representative achievement of the School in high-level research platforms. More efforts would be invested in photo electronic examination and measurement, medical image processing, and high-end medical instruments to support development of instrumentation science and technology as a high-grade, advanced, and precision discipline capable of awarding doctoral degrees.
