BISTU and China CBM Group Limited held an agreement-signing ceremony at the China National Convention Center, announcing the collaborative effort to build a “joint postgraduate training and Practice Base”. Besides BISTU, nine other universities and colleges also signed to cooperate with China CBM to establish the training and practice base: China University of Mining & Technology (Beijing), China University of Petroleum (Beijing), China University of Geoscience (Beijing), Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and so on. On behalf of BISTU, Vice-President Han Qiushi was present at the signing ceremony.  

China CBM is the lead unit of the No. 05 Special Project under the National Science and Technology Major Project, and it is also a close research partner with BISTU in the oil and gas industry. 

During China’s Twelfth Five-Year Plan, BISTU will foster stronger academic-industry collaborations. The university will take the opportunity to undertake a sub-project under the National Major Project “Giant Oil/Gas Fields and Coalbed Methane Exploration”. By doing so, BISTU is determined to make a greater contribution to industrial development, which, in turn, will result in more progress in academic disciplines.  

With the establishment of the joint postgraduate training and practice base, BISTU will be able to upgrade its educational standard for postgraduate professional degrees. Such a base will have a lasting significance for BISTU to improve students’ practical skills as well as to promote its industry-university-research cooperation with China CBM.
