Qin Lei Awarded Beijing Young Scholar

Beijing, 14th October 2024 (BISTU)--- Researcher Qin Lei, Deputy Director of Municipal Key Laboratory of Sensors of BISTU, was awarded the honor “Beijing Young Scholar”, according to the recently-published official notice.

Qin Lei, second-tier researcher of BISTU, Ph.D. supervisor, is currently Deputy Director of Municipal Key Laboratory of Sensors of BISTU and Deputy Director of Concept Verification Platform for New Sensors. He has been a visiting scholar at the Pennsylvania State University and is the executive editor-in-chief of Sensor World. His research interests include piezoelectric composites, underwater acoustic sensor, and underwater wireless charging.

As the pacesetter of a high-level research team accredited by Beijing Municipality, Qin Lei has also been awarded Outstanding Young Talents of Beijing Municipality-administered Universities, Scholar of Diligence and Honor of BISTU, and outstanding science and technology worker of Chinese Institute of Electronics. Qin Lei and his team members have long been centering on high-performance piezoelectric materials, broad-band and wide-beam acoustic sensors, and new applications of underwater acoustic transducers. He has chaired over 20 projects of various levels and won a second prize of science and technology progress of Beijing Municipality, in addition to over 110 journal articles (some on top journals), 21 patents, and 4 commercialized patents.

Research achievements of Qin Lei have been widely quoted and reprinted by peer-viewed journals and mainstream media. Concept Verification Platform for New Sensors, a platform that he and his team members established, has helped scores of universities and research institutions in commercialization of research achievements and projects, greatly promoting new quality productive forces in the area of sensor. His outstanding contribution in sensing technology has been covered by Beijing TV.

Beijing Young Scholars, a municipal-level project for cultivation of outstanding talents, is an honor awarded to a certain number of outstanding scholars every two years. It aims at providing support with outstanding young scholars who have strong innovative awareness, great potential of development, and global horizon.
