Beijing, 30th October 2023 (BISTU)--- BISTU was officially approved as a member of IMT-2023 (6G) Promotion Group, according to the recent notice published by the Group.

The IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group was established in June 2019 by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China. The organizational structure is based on the original IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group. The members include major Chinese operators, vendors, universities and research institutions such as China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Xidian University, etc. The promotion group is the main platform for gathering China's industry-university-research forces, promoting China's sixth-generation mobile communication technology research and developing international views exchanges and cooperation. With thorough preparations led by Intelligent Communications and Computing Team of School of Information and Communication Engineering, BISTU was finally approved as a member.
Joining the Group would provide opportunities for faculties and students to conduct academic communication and exchange with communication experts, research institutes, and university scholars home and abroad in respect of the latest technologies and the latest progresses in communications and key technologies in 6G. It would also help cultivate students’ competences in providing solutions to actual engineering issues.
The past years have witnessed substantial progress and a series of achievements of the School of Information and Communication Engineering in the field of intellisense technology, green network communication technology, broad-band mobile communication technology, micro-nano information system, etc. All programs of the School are now ranking top 10% in 2023 ShanghaiRanking with Information and Communication Engineering as an academic discipline ranking top 40% in academic discipline ranking.
