Beijing, 26th October 2023 (BISTU)--- Inauguration meeting & the first general assembly of BISTU Association for Science and Technology successfully completed on 25th October 2023 at Shahe Campus. The meeting was attended by First-tier Inspector Yue Hongzhi of Beijing Municipal Association for Science and Technology, Chairlady Li Xuehong of Changping District Association for Science and Technology (Vice Chairlady of the CPPCC Changping District Committee), Secretary Xie Jiangling of CPC BISTU Committee, and President Guo Fu.  

  

In his address, Xie Jiangling extended sincere thanks to Beijing Municipal Association for Science and Technology and Changping District Association for Science and Technology for their generous support and care with development of BISTU. He expressed that establishment of BISTU Association for Science and Technology was key event of the University and an important move of the University in learning and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and carrying out three strategies, i.e., national rejuvenation through science and education, the strategy on development a quality workforce, and the strategy of innovation-oriented development. It would provide new institutional guarantee and activity platforms for talent cultivation, academic research, sci-tech innovation, and social services of the University. Following warm congratulations to the inauguration, he raised several requests on future work of BISTU Association for Science and Technology. First, all must enhance political awareness and become dedicated to national development strategy. Second, attention should be paid to regional development to facilitate school-local government integration. Third, we would promote organized research based on current progresses at the University. And fourth, internal governance would be further perfected to strengthen internal communication. Xie Jiangling encouraged all science and technology workers of the University to make outstanding achievements on the University’s platform of science and technology to provide support with sef-reliance in high-level science and technology.  

  

On behalf of Beijing Municipal Association for Science and Technology, Yue Hongzhi extended warm congratulations to establishment of BISTU Association for Science and Technology. He expressed that the past 86 years of BISTU history have witnessed the University following the motto “diligence in learning and honor for life”, taking initiative in contributing to development of national machinery industry and computer industry. Establishment of BISTU Association for Science and Technology highlighted the importance attached to sci-tech innovation by CPC BISTU Committee as well as the courage and sense of responsible of BISTU in shouldering the responsibilities of our times. He hoped that BISTU Association for Science and Technology would strengthen the guiding role of ideological and political education, focus on cultivating sci-tech talents with innovation awareness, actively take part in activities organized by Beijing Municipal Association for Science and Technology, and enhance communication and connectivity with various science and technology associations in Beijing. It would provide a better, broader platform for growth of young students and science and technology workers of the University. Yue Hongzhi said.  

  

Guo Fu announced the name list for board of chairmen of the first general assembly. The Meeting informed the audiences of preparations for establishment of BISTU Association for Science and Technology, reviewed the Draft Constitution for BISTU Association for Science and Technology, and elected chairman and vice chairmen of the first session commission of the general assembly.  

  

Vice President Chen Xin was elected Chairman of BISTU Association for Science and Technology. He expressed that the Association would follow the guidance of Beijing Municipal Association for Science and Technology, the leadership of CPC BISTU Committee, and terms and conditions of the Constitution to build platforms and ecology for science and technology work at the University. Constant efforts would be paid to perfecting institutional management, patriotic education, and service provided with science and technology workers of the University. He was confident that the Association would become an accelerator for building up a science atmosphere and boosting high quality development.  

  

Inauguration ceremony of BISTU Association for Science and Technology was jointly launched by Yue Hongzhi, Li Xuehong, Xie Jiangling and Guo fu, followed by a science and technology achievement show for the 7th BISTU Festival for Science and Technology Innovation.  

As a non-governmental organization of scientific and technological professionals, BISTU Association for Science and Technology would serve as a bridge between the University and all science and technology workers of BISTU. It was aimed at uniting an extensive spectrum of faculties and students for innovative activities in science and technology, promoting inter-division and inter-school academic exchange and cooperation, and contributing to high quality development of the University, social economic development of Beijing, and self-reliance of science technology strategy of our country.  

  

The inauguration ceremony and meeting was attended by over 80 people, including staff members of Beijing Municipal Association for Science and Technology, Changping District Association for Science and Technology, and representatives of BISTU Association for Science and Technology.
