Beijing, 24th October 2022 (BISTU)--- A testimonial from Tixiazhuang Village, Henanzhai Town of Miyun District of Beijing arrived at Beijing Key Lab of High Dynamic Navigation Technology. It told touching stories of the Lab in contributing to rural revitalization of the Village. The once-bumpy roads in the Village now have been fully hardened and put in use on 15th October 2022.  

In his remarks on the 20th National Congress of CPC, General Secretary Xi Jinping has pointed out that rural revitalization should be fully mobilized and implemented. The Rural Revitalization Initiative for faculties and students of Beijing-based universities was one of the theme education activities for educational institutions in Beijing in 2022. It was aimed at bringing the strengths of universities into full play, contributing to rural revitalization, facilitating agriculture modernization, and building a better, prosperous life for farmers.  

Working together with Tixiazhuang Village, BISTU School of Automation and Beijing Key Lab of High Dynamic Navigation Technology has established Field Practice Base for Rural Revitalization (headed by Liu Ning) in May 2022. The Base conducted a number of surveys and produced viable solutions to development of the village. Located in the east of the Village, the Base covered an area of 17 mu (11,000 square meters) surrounded by a model cooperative for poultry breeding, an ecological sightseeing zone, and a primary school. Major work of the Base included development of intelligent agriculture, development and test of equipment for farmers, development of agricultural sensors, training of farmers in science and technology, etc.  

As of 15th October 2022, more than 60 villagers, plus 3 farmers receiving targeted support, have benefited from the Based. Tixia Vegetable Garden was set to promote vegetables grown by local farmers in the Village. A number of training sessions would be organized later to offer more support with villagers. And other research projects concerning rural revitalization were also now being prepared.  

Construction of such off-campus field practice base has enhanced the collaboration between BISTU and Henanzhai Town of Miyun District in rural revitalization. Considering ecological strengths of Miyun District, a proposal has been raised on setting up an ecological development pattern combining industries like agriculture, tourism, science innovation, research activities, health care, and elderly care and it would be pioneering examples for all villages in Miyun on rural revitalization.
