First National Social Science Fund Major Project in BISTU History

Recently, BISTU, as the responsible unit (aka host unit), was granted a 2012 National Social Science Fund Major Project (under the category of “Interdisciplinary Comprehensive Research covering science, engineering and arts”), for the first time in BISTU history. The credit also goes to the university leaders and the Department of Science and Technology, whose firm support and efficient organization have made this breakthrough possible.

The approved project is named “Memory of the World Heritage -- Dongba Classical Culture Inheritance System Digitalized International Sharing Platform Construction Research.” The project aims to use modern information technology to conserve and pass down classical Dongba culture, and to build a digitalized international sharing platform through a broad interdisciplinary approach and close international cooperation.

BISTU Professor Xu Xiaoli is chief specialist of the project, with 5 sub-projects led by 5 experts from different fields. They are Professor Bai Gengsheng, Chairman of the International Association of Naxi Studies, Mr. Zhang Xu, President of Beijing Association of Dongba Culture and Arts, Professor Wang Hongjun, Vice-Director of BISTU MOE Key Laboratory of Modern Measurement and Control Technology, Professor Li Ning, Director of BISTU Beijing Municipal Key Laboratory of Internet Culture & Digital Transmission, and Mr. Wu Guoxin, Associate Researcher of BISTU MOE Key Laboratory of Modern Measurement and Control Technology. The 5 sub-projects involve 15 core members (the top 3 members in each sub-project), of whom 5 are researchers from BISTU.
