Sparks in Zhongguancun: Promotional Activity of BISTU Research Achievements in Science and Technology

Beijing, 15th June 2022 (BISTU)--- Sparks in Zhongguancun: Promotional Meeting of BISTU Research Achievements in Science and Technology successfully completed on 14th June 2022. The Promotional event, guided by Beijing Municipal Commission of Science and Technology and Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Science Park and co-organized by Beijing Service Center for Commercialization of Science and Technology Achievements, Intellectual Property Protection Center of Zhongguancun, Technical Manager Association of Zhongguancun, and BISTU, offered roadshows of four projects all chaired by young faculties of BISTU.

Our project is the portable non-invasive intelligent Raman spectroscopic analysis system for oral cavity cancer. It is based on Raman spectroscopic analysis technology and intelligent computing and would be able to conduct realtime diagnostics on oral cavity cancer. Introduction made by Associate Professor Yu Mingxin from BISTU-based Ministry Key Lab on Photo Electronic Measurement and Test Technology and Instrument impressed audiences. He said products in this regard would be extensively applied to medical institutions for diagnosis and treatment of oral cavity cancer. It would enable doctors to obtain spectrum in an effective, rapid manner. Currently a prototype trial has been developed on the phase of animal testing.

Human survival and development are facing with severe challenges under the context of fossil energy shortage and decline in the quality of our environment. General Secretary Xi Jinping has proposed the strategic objective of peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality on the 75th General Assembly of the United Nations in September 2020. Great opportunities thus were created for clean energies such as wind power and photovoltaic power. Associate Research Fellow Meng Fanyong (School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronics Engineering) and his team members laid focus on weaknesses of current wind power industry and developed a monitoring and intelligent maintenance system for wind pattern. It integrated various sensor technologies, signal acquisition technology, and data transmission technology to provide health status assessment and fault diagnosis of wind pattern and wind turbines. The system could further lessen the requirements on the number and physical quality of maintenance staffs in on-site inspection so as to improve efficiency of wind pattern. Meng Fanyong added.

Ravaged by fire, electric facilities and electric equipment in a building would be paralyzed. And fire alarms based on routers and switchboard would not function as they were expected to. The team of School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronics Engineering headed by Associate Professor He Qing, based on telecommunication technology in internet of things, developed a fire alarm system based on ad hoc wireless network, which enabled alarm nodes in different places to self-form ad hoc networks and conduct multi-hop communication and finally transmit fire information to terminal server. Once a fire alarm was identified, the whole building would send out fire alarm signals--- without wiring, which significantly reduced costs in installation and maintenance. The whole system is very sensitive, power-saving, and durable and would be applied to residential buildings, office buildings, hotels, schools, and factories.

The last project of the roadshow was FSBB-based wide-range high-dynamic switching power supply. With the feature in two-way buck-boost, wide range, and the function of standard communication, it could also generate code automatically. In addition, the project applied particle swarm optimization to optimize onboard control parameters and thus could provide dynamic feedback to regulation of output voltage/current under high-dynamic loads. It would be applied to test of electronic devices, independent micro-grids, new energy vehicles, hand-held power supply, etc. Associate Professor Ma Bin from School of Electromechanical Engineering said.

Beijing Service Center for Commercialization of Science and Technology Achievements explained favorable policies on taxes in technological contracts. And Intellectual Property Protection Center of Zhongguancun offered an introduction to the competition on high-value intellectual property in Haidian District.

The event accommodated over 200 visitors online who actively exchanged their discussions with speakers.

BISTU Center of Commercialization of Science and Technology Achievements started sorting out achievements of the University at the beginning of 2022 and provided due support with relatively-mature achievements. Meanwhile it took initiative in communicating with enterprises, local governments, and agencies to expand channels of promotion. Considering impact of covid-19 pandemic, the whole event was held online. And the following event would also be held soon with another four projects to be display in the roadshow.

Optimizing top design, perfecting mechanism and system, strengthening platform building, and enhancing team building, BISTU Center of Commercialization of Science and Technology Achievements has made evident progress in commercialization of research achievements. A number of products have been developed, including new metal-hull resonator gyro based on high-dynamic and control technology, high-dynamic high-speed biaxial dumping gyro, body temperature detection instrument for large flow of people, full-automatic precision sealing machine, etc.
