BISTU Organized “Diligence & Honor and Industry-Teaching Integration” Technical Communication Forum

Beijing, 6th November 2023 (BISTU)--- 2023 Technical Communication Forum on “Diligence & Honor and Industry-Teaching Integration”, organized by BISTU School of Foreign Studies, celebrated its opening ceremony on 5th November 2023 at Shahe Campus. The Forum, addressed by President Guo Fu, attracted practitioners in technical communication from over 60 famous companies and college teachers engaging in teaching and research of technical communication.   

On behalf of the University, President Guo Fu extended warm welcome to all guests and experts, followed by an introduction to BISTU with emphasis on academic strengths with distinctive feature in information technology, philosophies in talent cultivation, educational practices, and achievements of talent cultivation. Guo Fu expressed that technical communication incorporated a number of disciplines such as language service, communication studies, information technology, etc. and was strongly practice-oriented. The University has been committed to building an academic discipline of foreign studies with distinctive feature in information technology, aiming at nurturing inter-disciplinary talents with both information technology and foreign language competence. It was hoped that the Forum would help strengthen school-enterprise collaboration to bring into full play the two-bound interaction, resources sharing, and complementary advantages between universities and enterprises, which would provide support with teaching, academic research, and talent cultivation.  

 

  

Fu Tao, the representative of the forum sponsor TC World China Beijing Division, extended sincere gratitude to BISTU. The Forum has offered valuable opportunities of exchange and learning for practitioners and researchers in technical communication. It would play a positive, active part in academic discipline construction. Fu Tao said.  

  

 

Yang Hua and Zhang Yong, respectively from Huawei and Sigma Technology, shared their experiences and best practices in technical communication centered on Practices and evolution of intelligence and big model in the field of technical communication and Analysis of technical documentation and industries home and abroad.  

Vice Dean Wang Zhaohui of Foreign Studies School offered an introduction to the relations between Translation, a program offered at the School, and technical communication. Secretary-Chief Liu Yong of Technical Communication Commission of Trade Industries Committee of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade discussed technical communication at universities.  

 

On the appointment ceremony followed, Dean Zhu Anbo of Foreign Studies School presented letters of appointment to five corporate mentors, i.e., Zhang Xiaping, Fu Tao, Liu Yong, Zhang Yong, and Chen Haiyan.   

Full discussions were led by conveners of Meetup groups centered on related topics.Secretary He Fang of Foreign Studies School Commission of CPC BISTU Committee expressed that the Forum aimed to exchange advanced experiences with industries and bridge gaps to innovate pathways of talent cultivation and boost industry-teaching integration. It was also an actual move in implementing the guideline of the University in diligence and integrity in practice. Zhu Anbo commented that development of academic disciplines and programs of the School enjoyed the strengths in information technology. A featured new model of talent cultivation has been formed, i.e., translation plus technology. He was confident that the Forum would boost in-depth integration of industries, learning, and research.  

The Forum offered a valuable platform of exchange and communication for technical communication and industry-teaching integration. Development trend and current problems of technical information communication were explored from industrial and educational perspective. It played a positive role in deepening school-enterprise cooperation, further perfecting talent cultivation in respect of foreign studies, and enhancing the quality of inter-disciplinary talent cultivation.
