Beijing, 17th November 2022 (BISTU)--- New breakthrough has been achieved at School of Information and Communication Engineering in 2022, i.e., the School saw 6 new projects sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation. Among these projects, “Research on New Devices in post-Moore era” chaired by Zhao Yudi, laid focus on computing power and efficiency of future chips, was listed as one of the key projects sponsored. The School has witnessed an average of 3 or more new projects sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation each year since 2019. Zhao Kai, a faculty of the School, cooperated with other institutions in a R&D project which was granted more than 30 million yuan this year.
With a balanced, professional, and reasonably structured faculty team, School of Information and Communication has paid enough attention to academic research. Faculties were enthusiastic about research and 35% of full-time teachers have chaired projects sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation. New progresses have been achieved in respect of state-level research projects, research funding, and highly-quoted papers.
It should be noted that the number of young scholars with highly-quoted papers has been growing. “Microcomb-driven silicon photonic systems”, the paper by Qin Jun when doing post-doctoral research at Peking University, was published by Nature. As the first authors, Yue Xinwei, Gong Yi and Cai Yuanxin have 4 papers screened out by Web of Science as the highly-quoted papers.
The recent years have seen rapid progress in academic research at School of Information and Communication Engineering with new high in quality and quantity of research achievements. The School would continue to integrate research with teaching and bring the role of academic research in education into full play. Team building of faculties would be strengthened and academic atmosphere would be enhanced to further push forward academic research progress of the School.
