Beijing, 22nd May 2026 (BISTU)--- Upon invitation of College of Automation (College of Artificial Intelligence) and Additive Manufacturing and In-process Inspection Laboratory, Qu Xianming, Research Fellow and former Vice President of China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology, delivered an academic report on “New generation intelligent manufacturing”.

President Guo Fu met with Research Fellow Qu Xianming and offered an introduction to achievements that BISTU has made in respect of academic discipline building, talent cultivation, sci-tech innovation, etc. Qu Xianming spoke highly of teaching facilities and academic atmosphere of the University.
The report was held in Shahe Campus and was hosted by Dean Fan Junfang of the College.

The report offered a systematic review of outstanding achievements in Chinese manufacturing industry, produced in-depth analysis on importance of intelligent manufacturing, and explained prospect of new generation intelligent manufacturing.
“Made in China 2025”has witnessed a series of outstanding achievements since it was firstly published in 2015. Qu Xianming elaborated on the connotation and three basic paradigms of smart manufacturing, including digital manufacturing, digital-networked manufacturing, and digital-network-intelligent manufacturing. Through typical cases such as the intelligent locomotives of CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd. and the Yili Modern Smart Health Valley, he vividly demonstrated the remarkable achievements of smart manufacturing in practical applications. Rapid development of AI technology indicated that intelligent manufacturing was being transformed from an executor of programs to “an intelligent agent capable of autonomous perception, decision-making, execution, and learning”. He added that it is the best of times and students have great potential to make a difference in this tide of technological revolution and industrial transformation.

The report was attended by faculty and students of College of Automation (College of Artificial Intelligence). They commented that the report broadened their vision of intelligent manufacturing, ignited their passion for technological innovation, and clarified their future study and research orientations.
