Beijing, 10th December 2024 (BISTU)--- Data Science for Engineering, an online course jointly designed by Illinois Institute of Technology and BISTU, was officially launched, aiming to strengthen cooperation with IIT and “bringing the world closer to BISTU”, one of the internationalization objectives of BISTU.

The Course has been optimized based on Data Science for Engineers, a course offered as a general education one to students of IIT, and has been included in general education at BISTU. Covering algorithms and tools in data science, it was delivered by Professor Kevin W Cassel, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs of IIT and former Interim Dean of Armour College of Engineering.

Director Li Zhuo of BISTU Department of International Affairs (Dean of International Education College) addressed the opening ceremony. He expressed that the Course, an important step in facilitating the comprehensive collaboration with IIT, is one of the measures that BISTU adopted in enhancing educational globalization based on local resources and internet technologies. The number of students joining the Course hit a new record high in terms of the number of students registered for a single program for international exchange and cooperation. He extended best wishes to all students and commented that such an opportunity should be cherished and relished.

Around 230 students and teachers from College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, College of Automation, and College of Computer Science joined the four-week course with 16 credit hours.
