Beijing, 18th October 2023 (BISTU)---The first Shahe Higher Education Zone University League Seminar on Integrated Development of Advanced Technology successfully completed at Taihanglu Campus of BISTU on 18th October 2023. The Seminar was addressed by Secretary Xie Jiangling of CPC BISTU Committee, attended by Vice Mayor Cao Wei of Changping District, and chaired by President Guo Fu.  

  

On behalf of the University, Xie Jiangling extended warm welcome to distinguished guests and experts attending the Seminar. He pointed out that Shahe Higher Education Zone University League has provided substantial support with inter-school cooperation, optimization of resource sharing, and building a mechanism for coordinated development. Reviewing development and progresses of the University, he stressed that BISTU was now on the best phase of development. Science and technology innovation has become an internal demand and an objective for high quality development of the University. It was expected that members of the League would conduct extensive exchange and cooperation in research platform building, academic projects, and talent cultivation to promote inter-school cooperation, school-enterprise cooperation, and school-local government cooperation and to contribute to social and economic development of our country, of Beijing, and of Changping district.

On behalf of Changping District, Cao Wei extended warm congratulations to the Seminar. She pointed out that the 8 universities currently in Shahe Higher Education Zone had their distinctive features and strong academic strengths in respect of humanities and social sciences, science and technology, and educational sciences. The Seminar would help in-league resource exchange and sharing, in-depth development of science and technology innovation, and commercialization of research achievements. She expressed that Changping District would follow a mechanism of “one policy for one institution” to systematically promote school-district integration, aiming at building Changping into a modern first-class new city centered on science city, university city and ecological city.  

Vice President Chen Xin chaired the keynote speeches on international situations, science and technology innovation, UAV systems, Beidou measurement and control, and infrared detection respectively delivered by Academic Xiang Jinwu of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Zhao Hongbo of Beihang University, and Prof. Zhu Lianqing of BISTU.  

  

Themed on “Implications of Russia-Ukraine Clash from the Perspective of Sci-tech Innovation”, Research Fellow You Guangrong examined four phases of the clash and analyzed the highlighted role of mechanization, informationization, and artificial intelligence. He concluded with the implications of modern wars on science and technology innovation in the field of artificial intelligence.  

  

In “UAV System Technology Development”, Academician Xiang Jinwu discussed agility, universality, intelligence, and systematization of UAVs with reviews on UAV systems, key technologies, and influences of UAVs on industries.  

  

Prof. Zhao Hongbo delivered a report on “Beidou-based Measurement, Operation, and Control in Commercial Spaceflight”, which offered an introduction to Beidou (from the first to the third generation), the status quo of commercial spaceflight, key technologies in measurement, operation, and control of commercial spaceflight, and development prospect of Beidou technology.  

  

Themed on “Type-II Superlattice Infrared Detection Technology”, Prof. Zhu Lianqing discussed the principle and application of infrared detection and principles and key technologies of superlattice infrared detector, followed by an introduction to his MOE key lab in respect of research facilities, research platforms, and major achievements.  

Shahe Higher Education Zone University League Seminar on Integrated Development of Advanced Technology was an important platform in promoting science and technology innovation, implementing the strategy of science and education development, and advancing mutual development of members of the League. The Seminar would be held in succession by members of Shahe Higher Education Zone University League as a brand activity.  

  

The Seminar was also attended by Director Xiong Yuchuan of School-District Integration Department of Management Committee of Beijing Future City, directors of divisions and offices of member institutions of the League as well as directors of BISTU divisions and offices, deans and secretaries of BISTU schools, and over 200 BISTU faculties and students.
