Beijing, 13th November 2023 (BISTU)--- Aiming at implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s guidelines on self-reliance in science and technology, enhancing thematic education, and learning from experiences and practices of peer universities to promote high quality development at BISTU, Secretary Xie Jiangling of CPC BISTU Committee headed a delegation and visited Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xidian University and Xi’an University of Technology from 9th to 11th November 2023.  

Xie Jiangling and delegation members paid a special visit to Academician Lu Bingheng of Chinese Academy of Engineering (Director of National Innovation Institute of Additive Manufacturing (NIIAM)) at Xi’an Jiaotong University. Following his warm welcome to BISTU delegation, Academician Lu Bingheng said that BISTU enjoyed long history and fine academic tradition. The future would witness great progresses in academic discipline construction. Xie Jiangling expressed gratitude towards Academician Lu Bingheng for his support and hoped that more guidance and support would be offered in respect of academic discipline construction and issues concerning science and technology.  

Xie Jiangling and delegation members visited National Innovation Institute of Additive Manufacturing (NIIAM) and experienced related platforms of the Institute.  

Secretary Zha Xianyou of Xidian University greeted Xie Jiangling and delegation members, followed by visits to University History Gallery of Xidian University, exhibition of sci-tech achievements, and AI+ educational center.  

Zha Xianyou offered an introduction to Xidian University. Xidian University was born in revolutionary base areas with distinctive feature in electronic information. In the new period, the University has been following its traditions, meeting the demand of national key strategic development, and enhancing the quality of talent cultivation. It was hoped that both institutions would strengthen communication and deepen cooperation in a number of areas. Xie Jiangling expressed that BISTU has been following the trend of our time and completed three historical missions. Now it is the time for a new development phase. Both universities were supervised by the former Ministry of Electronic Industry, symbolizing a long-standing relationship. He expected that the two institutions would strengthen collaboration to make contribution to self-reliance and innovation of science and technology.  

Secretary Liu De’an of CPC Xi’an University of Technology Committee and Vice President Zhang Xiaohui met with Xie Jiangling and delegation members, followed by visits and survey to National & Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Crystal Growth Equipment and System Integration at Faculty of Automation and Information Engineering and State Key Laboratory of Eco-Hydraulics in Northwest Arid Region of China.  

Liu De’an offered an introduction to Xi’an University of Technology. He expressed that the two universities used to be one institution. Now both are researching in similar fields and have frequent communications, implying a bright future and a broad room of collaboration. Xie Jiangling commented that both universities, as close friends, would strengthen exchange and communication to achieve mutual development and contribute to national and local high quality development.  

The delegation members included Vice President Wang Xingfen and directors of General Administration Office, Office for Scientific Research, and deans of School of Electromechanical Engineering.
