Beijing, 29th October, 2016 (BISTU)--- President Wang Yongsheng signs University-City Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Weihai Torch Hi-Tech Science Park while attending Symposium on University-Enterprise-City Coordinated Innovation 2016 in Weihai and delivers keynote speech “Serving Development of Weihai on the Basis of School Features” on behalf of all attending schools. 　　 

The Symposium, attended by over 400 representatives including local leadership, city governmental sectors, high-tech enterprises, universities, and representatives from Chinese Academy of Science, welcomes its grand opening on 29^th October in Innovation and Entrepreneurial Base of Weihai Torch Hi-Tech Science Park. Vice Mayor Xu Lianxin extends warmest welcome to the guests and introduces recent development of Weihai. Introduction of the Science Park, strategic positioning, planning, and vision are introduced by representative of the Torch Park. And representative of high-tech enterprises offers introduction to how government platform of science and technology serves development of enterprises. On behalf of university representatives, Wang Yongsheng points out that currently, the Central Government has initiated national key plan of implementing innovative development and enhancing innovation competence of high educational institutions. In an ear of industry 4.0, internet plus, and big data, universities shall locate themselves reasonably, be innovative and distinctive, and realize the seamless connection between local government and enterprises so as to offer powerful support and guidance for sustainable development of China’s innovation and national socio-economic development.  

Following his address, President Wang Yongsheng signs strategic cooperation agreement with Weihai Torch Hi-Tech Science Park, which lays a solid foundation for future cooperation in respect of university-local government and university-enterprise.  

In keynote session, Wang Yongsheng delivers “Serving Development of Weihai on the Basis of School Features”. After introducing BISTU, major research interests and services that BISTU could offer, he points out that BISTU centers on industry development and seizes the substantial opportunity of Beijing’s construction of world city as well as that of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integration. The University has been very active in adjusting disciplines and majors and continuing to perfect education and reform internal management mechanism. BISTU is striding forward towards the strategic goal of a featured, domestic first-class, internationally well-known university, with its preeminent achievements in the field of smart manufacturing and robot, photo electronic detection and system, dynamic navigation and sensor, computer and big data security, knowledge management, and circular economy.  

Representatives of Harbin Institute of Technology Weihai, Shandong University Weihai, Chinese Academy of Science, Shandong University of Finance and Economics, China University of Mining and Technology, and Shenwan Hongyuan Securities. And then conference attendants visit SD Bay City for Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology Weihai, and high-tech enterprises like LCARBO, Dawei Ocean Robot Technology Co. Ltd.  

The symposium aims at implementing strategic planning of central government and the State Council, with giving full play to strengths of key disciplines of universities. League for University Innovation in Weihai, under the framework of national policy on innovation, will act as the connection between universities, local government, and enterprises in constructing innovation system and platform, speeding up commercialization of academic research achievements and promoting sound development of regional economy. 　　 

In July 2016, President Wang Yongsheng has attended Summit for Production Learning and Research Cooperation between Weihai and Cooperation Consortium of Beijing High Technology Universities (Beijing Tech) and reached consensus on future cooperation with Beijing Tech and Nanhai New district.
