TUS Delegation Visited BISTU

Beijing, 9th October 2024 (BISTU)---Vice President Xiao Zhisong met with the delegation of Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS) headed by Dean Sean Lyons of Faculty of Engineering and Informatics and Dean Maria Kyne of Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment on 9th October 2024. The visit was aimed at exploring issues concerning cooperation.

On behalf of the University, Xiao Zhisong extended warm welcome to TUS delegation and offered an introduction to the University and latest achievements. Xiao Zhisong stressed that the University is currently investing great efforts in promoting reform of education-industry integration for talent cultivation. Meanwhile, the pathway of globalized education-industry integration is being explored, aiming to build an overseas base for cultivation of talents based on education-industry integration. TUS has rich experiences in nurturing postgraduate students in cooperation with enterprises and some BISTU students have actually benefited from this. Xiao Zhisong hoped that both institutions would strengthen cooperation to jointly promote education-industry integration for talent cultivation.

Dr. Sean Lyons expressed sincere thanks to the warm reception and offered a detailed introduction to educational features and achievements of TUS. Cooperation between BISTU and Athlone Institute of Technology, one of the predecessors of TUS, has been proved very successful. Dr. Sean Lyons hoped that the friendship would help deepen collaboration between BISTU and TUS. The two institutions, he added, should continue to work together for cultivating high-level talents, exploring new pathways for in-depth education-industry integration, and nurturing more outstanding talents for our societies.

Both institutions reached consensus on 1+1+1 dual master degree program, joint program for doctoral degree, and summer program.

The meeting was joined by deans and directors of Postgraduate School, International Cooperation Department, School of Electromechanical Engineering, and School of Computer Science.
