Beijing, 1st November 2024 (BISTU)--- Delegation headed by Vice Governor Huang Ruxin of Fujian Province visited BISTU on 1st November 2024 to explore educational and scientific cooperation between BISTU and Longyan City. Chairman Xie Jiangling of University Council and President Guo Fu met with the delegation. The signing ceremony was also joined by Professor Wang Yongsheng, former president of BISTU, and Director Wang Xinshang of Science and Technology Office of Beijing Municipal CPPCC.

Xie Jiangling extended warm welcome to the delegation headed by Huang Ruxin and expressed thanks to Fujian Province CPPCC and Longyan Government for their trust and sincerity in cooperation. Shouldering social responsibilities, BISTU has always been rooted in national strategy to make contributions to national and regional development. Recent years have witnessed that Longyan, an area of glorious revolutionary traditions, is marching forward on the pathway of high quality development. Agreement signed between Longyan City and BISTU is an effective move to promote coordinated innovation between universities and local governments and to achieve integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent cultivation. Xie Jiangling hoped that both parties would continue to strengthen interconnectivity to contribute to high-quality development of Longyan and wellbeing of local people.

Guo Fu reviewed school-running achievements of the University in three aspects, i.e., solid foundation being laid for future development, strengths being highlighted for feature-based talent cultivation, innovation-oriented research being safeguarded by sound services. Substantial progresses have been achieved in strengthening organized research, promoting commercialization of research projects, and contributing to high-quality development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area. Guo Fu stressed that the University is now stepping forward, aiming at bringing out the full potential of the University and achieving feature-based and high-quality development. Guo Fu hoped that both parties would strengthen links and share resources to develop new quality productive forces, boost industrial development, and promote talent cultivation at BISTU and scientific and technological innovation in Longyan City.

Huang Ruxin extended thanks to the warm reception and paid tribute to BISTU’s support with high-quality development of Longyan. Huang Ruxin expressed that the feature of BISTU in information technology, plus its potential in scientific and technological innovation, agrees with development vision and industrial demand of Longyan City. Owing to attention from Central Government, Longyan now is greeting an unprecedented opportunity for development. He expected that R&D competence and talents of BISTU would be fit into industrial development of Longyan so that we would jointly build a new model for school-local government integration.

Director Shi Jianping of Education, Science, Health, and Sports Commission of Fujian Province CPPCC explained the context of Longyan-BISTU cooperation and highlighted measures of innovation in science, technology, and industries. Vice Mayor Wang Bo of Longyan produced an introduction to Longyan in respect of revolutionary traditions, green development, traditional culture, and local characteristics.

The Cooperative Agreement was signed by Vice President Fang Deying and Vice Mayor Wang Bo. In-depth cooperation will be conducted in a wide spectrum of areas, such as technological services, promotion of commercialization of research achievements, building research platforms, strengthening talent cultivation, enhancing industry-learning-research integration, etc.

When visiting the Sand Table of the new campus, Guo Fu offered an introduction to geographical location, advantages, Phase II planning, etc. of the campus. Huang Ruxin and delegation members also visited other facilities and field education bases. Research competence and commercialization of research achievements were introduced by Director Cao Lin of Office for Scientific Research, educational objectives, academic subject competitions, and strengths in talent cultivation by Deputy Director Zheng Xiaobo of Academic Affairs Office, and design philosophy, intelligent operation, and library holdings by Chief Librarian Zhang Jian.

The meeting was joined by Deputy Director Liu Jianjin and Deputy Director Wang Suping of Education, Science, Health, and Sports Commission of Fujian Province CPPCC, Deputy Director Chen Shaofeng of Science and Technology Bureau of Longyan as well as directors and deans of BISTU General Administration Office, Academic Affairs Office, External Liaison Office, Industrial Development Office, and School of Electromechanical Engineering.
