Beijing, 18th March 2024 (BISTU)--- BISTU and Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) signed the memorandum of Understanding on 18th March 2024, aiming to enhance educational globalization, pursuing high-standard opening-up of education in the new era, strengthening global qualities and academic competences of faculty and students, and promoting communication and development of advanced science, technology and culture among different countries.
Chairman Xie Jiangling of University Council and President Guo Fu met with President David FitzPatrick of TU Dublin and delegation members. Xie Jiangling expressed that BISTU is now based in Changping District where a number of educational institutions, scientific and technological companies, and various resources are gathering. The strengths of Changping District in research, education, and globalization are becoming more salient. BISTU promotes intension-oriented high-quality development and will step up efforts to conduct cooperation of various types with high-level institutions such as TU Dublin. It was hoped that the agreement signing would serve as an opportunity for both institutions to deepen cooperation and to contribution to international academic exchange.
President Guo Fu addressed the signing ceremony. Following an introduction to BISTU and the innovative progresses and outstanding achievements of BISTU in respect of cultivation of cross-cultural talents, innovation in frontier technologies, and international communication and exchanges, he looked forward to successful collaboration between the two institutions. The increasing close ties between China and Ireland in economy, culture, and science and technology indicated that cooperation and exchange in higher education has become an important part for both countries. Both BISTU and TU Dublin are based in national capital regions and find resemblance in engineering teaching and sci-tech innovation. And both could learn from each other in innovative practices and talent cultivation. With great potential and bright prospect of cooperation, cooperation between BISTU and TU Dublin, on a historical moment when China and Ireland celebrate the 45th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, would add to new momentum for educational cooperation between the two countries. It was hoped that cooperation between the two institutions would become a model of first-class level and first-class quality which can bring benefits to people of both countries and contribute to educational and cultural exchanges between China and Ireland.
President David FitzPatrick of TU Dublin commented that it was an honored to be invited and to establish cooperative links with BISTU. The two institutions agreed with each other in cultivation of innovation-oriented talents and educational globalization. Both have accumulated extensive experiences and achieved remarkable progresses in practice teaching and industry-learning-research cooperation. Similarities and future connectivity between both institutions in a number of areas indicated a diversified model and a bright prospect of cooperation. TU Dublin appreciated the outstanding achievements and strengths of BISTU in informationization and intelligent teaching, a field worth exploring in near future. He added that cooperation between the two institutions would be a mutual beneficial one and would contribute to friendly relations and sci-tech and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The signing ceremony was chaired by Vice President Xiao Zhisong. He hoped that the two institutions would strengthen communication to effectively promote cooperation.
Both institutions conducted detailed discussions on cooperation in engineering, computer science, and business studies. And then delegation members of TU Dublin were showed around the mater control center of intelligent teaching and intelligent classrooms.
The TU Dublin delegation members included Prof. Patrick Flynn, head of Learning Development of the faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Dr. Colin Hughes, head of the Graduate Business School, Dr. Paul Doyle, head of the School of Computer Science, Brian Gillespie, head of Discipline for Software Engineering at School of Computer Science, and Bei Gao,Senior Strategic Partnerships & Alliances Manager.
The signing ceremony and discussions were also joined by Dean Huang Min of School of Electromechanical Engineering, Dean Fan Junfang of School of Automation, Dean Li Ning of School of Computer Science, Dean Zhang Jian of School of Economics and Management, and Director Qu Li of International Cooperation Department (Dean of School of International Education).
