Beijing, 25th May, 2015(BISTU)--- Cooperative agreement between BISTU and Shih Hsin University was signed by Vice President Feng Xichun and Dr. Ching-Ho Chen, Vice President of Shih Hsin University.
As one of the leading schools in communication studies in Taiwan, Shih Hsin University was established in 1956 in Taipei. Holding on to the university motto “Master virtue and wisdom; practice hands and mind”, the University takes communication as its core courses and links communication studies to all its programmes. The University has developed from a school dedicated to educating journalism professionals to a full-fledged one focusing on media and communication. It has been, for 11 successive years, awarded Teaching of Excellence by education authority of Taiwan. The University has four schools, namely, College of Journalism and Communication, the School of Management, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the School of Law. It offers 3 doctoral programmes, 23 master programmes, and 19 undergraduate programmes to over 13,000 students. Shih Hsin University is one of the two universities in Taiwan who are eligible to award doctoral degree in communication. Its graduates enjoy high reputation in media and communication circle of Taiwan--- for a number of years graduates of Shih Hsin University have been ranking top of favorite list of Taiwan’s media industry, film and TV industry, and performance industry. Of all media and communication practitioners in Taipei, more than half are alumni of Shih Hsin University.

Vice President Feng Xichun introduced development of BISTU to Dr. Ching-Ho Chen. Signing of the agreement brought BISTU a new friend in Taiwan. Shih Hsin is the leading school in communication studies in Taiwan. Comparatively, BISTU’s School of Media & Public Administration was new one. It was a great opportunity for the school to work together with a strong partner. Said Feng Xichun. He believed that exchange and communication between both universities will help greatly in promoting development of School of Media & Public Administration, especially the communication course.
Dr. Ching-Ho Chen introduced Shih Hsin University, especially features of College of Journalism and Communication and their outstanding alumni. The University attached high importance to cross-disciplinary studies and convergence of knowledge. In internet and new media communication, there are great opportunities of cooperation for the two universities. Said Dr. Ching-ho Chen. He also introduced the programmes and exchanges that Shih Hsin has implemented with other mainland universities.

Both institutions believe that cooperation in humanities and social sciences is more convenient to implement, for it is free from the limit of hardware and time and space. In view of the internet plus, advantages of both universities---BISTUS’s strength in information technology and internet and Shi Hsin’s strength in communication studies--- are the perfect combination of cooperation. Both institutions agreed to conduct short-term exchange and launch it this autumn.
Dr. Ching-Ho Chen discussed with faculties of School of Media and Public Administration on development of communication courses under the context of big data. He also held a few seminars for the students on New Media and Big Data, Modern Technological and Communicational Personnel, etc.
The meeting and discussion was also attended by Director of Academic Affairs Office Wang Xingfen, Dr. Lu Jing, Director of Office for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs, Yang Kongyu, Executive Vice Dean of School of Media and Public Administration, and Vice Dean Liang Dongmei.
