Beijing, 24th October 2023 (BISTU)--- Co-hosted by Tsinghua University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology and co-organized by BISTU and other institutions, the 5th Symposium on Intelligent Microsystems welcomed its opening ceremony on 20th October 2023 at Wuhan of Hubei Province. President Guo Fu attended and addressed the opening ceremony chaired by Director Zhu Lianqing of MOE Key Laboratory of Photo Electronics Measurement and Testing Technology and Instruments.  

Guo Fu extended warmest congratulations to the Symposium. He expressed that the Symposium has attracted elites in the field of intelligent microsystems home and abroad to jointly explore frontier issues and future trend in science and technology. It was an academic event for idea exchange, truth exploration, and integrated development. And it would follow the track of the new round revolution in science and technology and empower the science-education integration and education-industry integration with new thinking and new momentum.  　　 

Guo Fu offered an introduction to BISTU in respect of historical development, school-running orientation, educational features as well as the achievements that it has made in serving national and municipal development, coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and development of advanced high precision industries in Beijing. He pointed out that the University has made fruitful, in-depth interschool cooperation with renowned universities like Tsinghua University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He expected that the Symposium would strengthen innovation in science and technology and communication in academic circle and bring interschool cooperation, school-enterprise cooperation, and school-local government cooperation to a new level.  

The Symposium on Intelligent Microsystems is an annual academic event aiming at showing the research hotspots and development trends in the field of Intelligent Microsystems and promoting academic interactions as well as technical cooperation in this field around the world. The first symposium was held in 2019. The 2023 symposium was themed on “Intelligent Microsystems: Microsystems, Empowering Intelligence, Comprehensive Health”. Scores of experts and scholars home and abroad in the field of intelligent sensors, intelligent health, and biomedicines were invited to the Symposium. It has built a bridge between academics and industries, which would promote technological innovation and healthy, innovative, and comprehensive development of microsystems and intelligent health industry.  

The Symposium was co-hosted by Tsinghua University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, organized by Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Integrated Circuits, Optics Valley Laboratory, and related schools of the two universities, and co-organized by BISTU, Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone, Optical Valley Integrated Circuit Innovation Platform Alliance, and China Instrument and Control Society. It had two seminars on reports delivered by academicians and 13 seminars on reports by famous experts and scholars. The opening ceremony was also addressed by Dean Wu Huaqiang of School of Integrated Circuits of Tsinghua University (Executive Director of Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Integrated Circuits), the former first-tier inspector Gao Runsheng of MOE  Department of Science, Technology and Informatization, and Vice Mayor Meng Hui of Wuhan Municipal Government.  

The University is now on a phase of high quality development. Sponsoring or co-organizing international academic conferences and symposiums would promote interschool cooperation, school-enterprise cooperation, and school-local government cooperation, strengthen empowerment of science and technology in innovation, and enhance commercialization of research achievements. It served as important means in “building up university image and inner powers”. Future efforts would be invested in research areas of strengths to implement organized research, strengthen publicity of research achievements, and facilitate high quality development of the University.  

The opening ceremony was also attended by Dean Dong Mingli of Dean of BISTU School of Instrumentation Science and Optoelectronics Engineering, and directors of General Administration Office and Office for Scientific Research.
