Beijing, 26th December 2023 (BISTU)--- President Guo Fu met with President Wonhee Lee and Vice President Taewan Kim of Hankyong National University via video links on 26th December 2023. Both universities signed the agreement of cooperation.  

 　　Guo Fu addressed the meeting. Following his introduction to BISTU in respect of historical development, academic disciplines and programs, talent cultivation, educational features, sci-tech innovation, etc., Guo Fu expressed that both Hankyong National University and BISTU were mergers of high level institution traced back to 80 years ago. Both institutions, with their strengths in information technology, were gaining substantial support from local governments. These common features have laid a solid foundation for future in-depth cooperation. Korea is the major source of international students at BISTU, indicating that BISTU has accumulated rich experience and achieved good results in this regard. It was expected that agreement signing would become a starting point for cooperation between the two institutions. And we were looking forward to high quality cooperation in joint cultivation of talents, faculty exchange, and joint research to bring Sino-Korean educational exchange and communication to a new level.  

　　Wonhee Lee introduced Hankyong National University in respect of historical development, teaching, research, and innovation projects of students. It was a great pleasure to work together with BISTU in a sincere manner and Hankyong National University looked forward to conduct diversified exchanges and communication with BISTU in the area of faculty and student exchange, coordinated research, and joint academic conferences. Wonhee Lee said. And he stressed that Hankyong National University would actively bring terms of the agreement into practice. A good starting point would be sending the first cohort of short-term exchange students in 2024.  

 　　The agreement signing ceremony was held via video links. On behalf of BISTU and Hankyong National University, Guo Fu and Wonhee Lee respectively signed the memorandum of understanding, symbolizing establishment of official cooperative relationship between the two universities.  

　　Vice President Xiao Zhisong chaired the meeting and signing ceremony. He expressed that faculties and researchers of both institutions could join the China-Korea bilateral exchange programs and could work together in a number of areas. Speaking of the outstanding performance of Hankyong National University students in robotics competitions in Korea, Xiao Zhisong introduced the robotics competition organized by BISTU and cordially invite faculties and students of Hankyong National University to join the competition.  

　　Director Qu Li of International Cooperation Department (Dean of School of International Education) offered an introduction to summer programs to be organized in 2024 and explained global plans of the University.  

　　Both institutions reached consensus to start from short-term faculty and student exchange and then conduct cooperative projects in a larger scope of areas.  

　　The meeting and signing ceremony were also attended by Director Hoyeol Ryu and Deputy Director Seungwon Lim of International Relations Center, Hankyong National University and Vice Dean Cai Ying of BISTU School of International Education.
