Beijing,14th September, 2016 (BISTU)--- Prof. Daniel Lisowski and Prof. Fan Shuhang from Department of Theatre and Drama of University of Wisconsin – Madison visited BISTU and explored cooperative programs with BISTU School of Automation on theatre technology.

Wang Jiuhe, Dean of School of Automation introduced basic information of the school and emphasized that the School has been working towards the goal of nurturing high-quality talents of applied learning. He said that the School looked forward to working with University of Wisconsin Madison in teaching, research and postgraduate education.
Prof. Fan Shuhang made an introduction of history, faculties, locations, facilities of University of Wisconsin Madison and particularly introduced tuition fees and favorable policies. Following the actual cases of combing art with engineering technology, Prof. Fan pointed out that it was very necessary to integrate art with engineering. There is a vast market for stage technology and new industries would be brought out. He suggested that BISTU work with UW-Madison for an 8-week cooperative project on performance technology and stage automation, which would help with art education for engineering students. He stressed that objective of this cooperative project is not to educate professional art designers but to nurture engineering designers who could understand art and who could work harmoniously with art designers. It is a pioneering try in China to combine art education with engineering education. Prof. Daniel Lisowski hoped that in the future programs on undergraduate and postgraduate level could be established at BISTU.
Both parties also communicated on details involved in the project.

The meeting is also attended by Wang Jiuhe, Dean of School of Automation, Lu Jing, Director of International Cooperation Department, Chen Wenbai, Vice Dean of School of Automation, and Cao Rongmin, Head of Control Engineering of School of Automation.

The delegation introduced to BISTU students University of Wisconsin Madison and potential cooperative programs. Students were very interested in the programs and raised many questions of concern and received satisfactory responses.
University Wisconsin Madison is one of the leading research universities of the U.S. as well as one of the most famous universities in the world. Located in Madison of Wisconsin, the University is known for beautiful campuses, perfect facilities, leading research competence, and a number of Nobel prize winners. The first Chinese Ambassador in the U.S. graduated from UW-Madison.
