Beijing, 14th July, 2015(BISTU)--- Prof. Wang Yongsheng was appointed President of Beijing Information Science and Technology University, as announced on the 14th July general conference of the University.

The general conference were attended by Li Shixin, Deputy Director-general of Municipal Commission of Organization, Zhang Xue, Executive Chairlady of Education Commission of Beijing Municipal Party Committee (ECBMPC), Chen Jianghua, member of ECBMPC and Director of Division of Personnel, and Gao Xiaojun, Deputy Director of Division of Personnel. BISTU Chairman of University Council Zheng Junli hosted the conference.

After announcing the government’s decision on appointment of Prof. Liu Gonghui and Prof. Wang Yongsheng, Li Shixin highly praised Prof. Liu Gonghui for his great contributions to BISTU in the past years. He pointed out in his address that Liu Gonghui is an excellent, clear-thinking, open-minded educator. He has contributed greatly to improvement of teaching and research as well as administration at BISTU. Now Prof. Liu Gonghui has been appointed President of Beijing University of Technology. It is hoped that he will continue to care and support the development of BISTU and strengthen cooperation between the two institutions. The government has put through thoughtful consideration and now appointed Prof. Wang Yongsheng President of BISTU. As previous President of Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, Wang Yongsheng has also been an excellent, clear-thinking, open-minded educator. He is a diligent, self-disciplined, democratic professor and is well accepted by students and faculties. It is expected that Wang Yongsheng gets familiarized with the university soon and make greater achievements on the new position.
Li Shixin emphasized that senior management of BISTU have led the whole university to a pathway of further development. He presented a few suggestions with future development of BISTU and wished all the best to the university.

On behalf of ECBMPC and Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Zhang Xue highly appreciated Liu Gonghui’s contributions to BISTU and extended heartfelt thanks. She hoped that Wang Yongsheng would know better about BISTU soon. Targeting at the university’s mission, positioning and features, Wang Yongsheng is expected to work together with Chairman Zheng Junli to open up new prospect and fulfil expectations of students and faculties. In her address, Zhang Xue also presented suggestions on development of BISTU during the 13th Five-Year Plan.

President Liu Gonghui expressed that he firmly upholds the decisions of the government. He extended his thanks to the government for the trust and endorsement with his performances, to Chairman Zheng Junli and all other senior management for their support and help in the past four years, to all BISTU students and faculties for their acceptance, understanding, trust, and tolerance. He wished BISTU a bright future.

President Wang Yongsheng in his speech thanked the trust of the government and expressed that he would be an integrated part of BISTU. He would work closely with Chairman Zheng Junli to construct an even better tomorrow for BISTU. He expressed that under the system of Party-Committee-oriented President Accountability, he would work closely with university faculty and focus on the development of both the university and faculties and students. Fine tradition and university culture would be inherited to carry forward the objectives and principles of constructing BISTU. He would be a dedicated president for the beautiful future of the University. Said President Wang Yongsheng.

On behalf of BISTU, Zheng Junli expressed the firm support with the decisions of the government. He extended sincere thanks to President Liu Gonghui for his great contributions and to the government for the care and consideration. Working in the education field for a long period, Wang Yongsheng is also a famous professor and an experienced president. Said Zheng Junli. He would firmly hold onto the system of Party-Committee-oriented President Accountability and implement democratic centralism. The whole university leadership would be a united team working to perfect all fields of BISTU. Suggestions from the government would be substantial guidelines of the university. All students and faculties of BISTU will strive for education of excellence and new, greater contribution to socio-economic development of Beijing.

The conference was also attended by all other university senior management, directors and deputies of divisions, representatives of faculties and staff members, etc.
Brief introduction to BISTU President Wang Yongsheng:

Wang Yongsheng, DoB: Feb. 1963, Han nationality, firstly employed in July 1985, Doctor of Science, is a professor and Ph.D. Supervisor.
President Wang Yongsheng was Deputy Director of Institute of Optoelectronic Technology Studies, Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU, formerly known as Northern Jiaotong University), Vice Dean of School of Science, Executive Dean of Graduate School, Director of Postgraduate Affairs, and Director of Academic Degree Affairs Office. He was also Vice President of BJTU and Dean of Postgraduate School, President of Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication. In July 2015, Wang Yongsheng became President of Beijing Information Science and Technology University.
President Wang Yongsheng has long been working in teaching and research in the field of optical engineering. He is also Vice Chairman and the standing director of Chinese Society of Luminescence, standing director of Optoelectronic Technology Commission of the Chinese Optical Society, council member of Youth Work of Chinese Materials Research Society, council member of Materials and Technology Commission of China Railway Society, member of the 8th and 9th Beijing Youth Federation, council member of the Chinese Association of Young Scientists and Technologists, and editor of Advanced Display, Chinese Journal of Luminescence, Chinese Journal of Liquid Crystals and Displays, etc. President Wang Yongsheng is also entitled to Special Government Allowances of the State Council.
