List of the 3rd cohort of MOE (Ministry of Education) Planning of Excellence containing 433 undergraduate programmes and 126 postgraduate programmes was just published, as is put in a recent Beijing Municipality Education Commission notice. BISTU’s Bachelor of Engineering in Network Engineering was honoured to have been nominated and finally approved.

BEng Network Engineering became University Pilot Programme in 2012. Since then the programme has been focusing on cultivation of professionals with profound knowledge in network engineering and outstanding engineers with strong practical capability. Active and fruitful cooperation with top enterprises, like Qihoo 360 and Tuijie Networks,have been conducted effectively. Being listed in the Plan offers a precious opportunity for this programme to further improve the level of teaching and research so as to contribute to nurturing excellent engineers who meet the demand of national and municipal economic development.
MOE Planning of Excellence is an influential part of the National Medium and Long Term Program for Education Reform and Development (2010-2020) and a key component of MOE Undergraduate Teaching Project in 12th Five-year Plan. This Plan aims at nurturing a certain amount of highly qualified, innovative professional and engineers to meet the needs of national social and economic development. It serves the objective of exploring a new path for industrialization, building up an innovative nation, and establishing a talent-driven state.
BISTU has had three undergraduate programmes listed in MOE Planning of Excellence: BEng Automation, BEng Communication Engineering and BEng Network Engineering. The former two was approved in 2011. Fruitful results have been achieved in respect of students selection, school-enterprise cooperation, practice platform construction, talent cultivation and internationalization.
