Beijing, 5th March 2024 (BISTU)--- Aiming at strengthening connections with high schools and effectively improve the quality of admissions, President Guo Fu visited Beijing Bayi School and held inauguration ceremony on establishing Beijing Bayi School as a premium student pool of BISTU. The ceremony was attended by Vice President Wang Xingfen, Principal Shen Jun of Beijing Bayi School, Secretary Niu Zhenyun of CPC Beijing Bayi School Committee, and Executive Deputy Principal Wang Huabei of Beijing Bayi School.

Guo Fu offered an introduction to BISTU inclusive of educational history, academic disciplines and programs, science and technology innovation, construction of the new campus, social service, and collaboration with local governments and enterprises. While detailing the achievements that BISTU has made in talent cultivation with reform of admissions, Guo Fu expressed that the key to invigorating China through education is in fundamental education with higher education taking the lead. It was necessary to build interconnectivity between fundamental education and higher education in the course of improving quality of talent cultivation for the new era. As the alma mater for General Secretary Xi Jinping, Beijing Bayi School carried on its revolutionary traditions and original aspirations, resonating with the spirit of BISTU. The educational principle of Bayi School in holistic education and the focus on science and technology highly matched the development principle of BISTU in “saving our nation by engaging in industry”, “dedicating ourselves to the service of the country with industrial development”, and “invigorating our nation through information technology”. Recent years have witnessed one cohort after another quality Bayi graduates enrolled at BISTU. It was hoped that establishment of the premium student pool would strengthen cooperation and deepen communication between the two institutions.

On behalf of Beijing Bayi School, Shen Jun extended warm welcome and sincere thanks to Guo Fu and BISTU delegation. He looked forward to exploring more on the basis of the premium student pool. Following his introduction to Beijing Bayi School and interconnectivity between high schools and universities concerning synergetic education, he expressed that BISTU has distinctive feature in information technology, fine tradition in research, and increasing strengths in education as a whole. The two institutions found quite a few areas matching each other. Becoming a premium student pool of BISTU reflected the recognition of BISTU of the quality of education at Bayi School and it was an actual move in building a talent cultivation model covering primary schools, middle schools, and universities. The School would continue to strengthen the quality of education to cultivate more high-quality students for universities. It was also hoped that BISTU would offer guidance and support in respect of ideological and political education, career planning, and curricular settings. Shen Jun said.

Niu Zhenyun explained educational reform and practices of Beijing Bayi School in recent years and looked forward to joint exploration of innovation-oriented talent cultivation. Successful experiences and practices of BISTU in educational theory innovation would be a beneficial reference for the School. Niu Zhenyun added.

 

Wang Xingfen signed the agreement of establishing a premium student pool at Beijing Bayi School. Dean Li Xuehua of BISTU School of Information and Communication Engineering presented the plaque of “Premium Student Pool” to Beijing Bayi School.

More premium student pools would be explored in the future to improve admissions quality, broaden admissions channels, and lift the reputation and academic influence of the University.

The ceremony was attended by Director Wei Jin and Deputy Director Yuan Mudan of Curriculum and Teaching Center of Beijing Baiyi School and faculties of Office for Admissions and Career Consultation of BISTU.
