Secretary Zhao Wenfeng of CPC Zhangjiakou Committee Visited BISTU to Explore Coordinated Development

Beijing, 7th December 2023 (BISTU)---Zhangjiakou Delegation headed by Secretary Zhao Wenfeng visited BISTU on 6th December 2023 to explore new paradigms of university-local government cooperation and boost coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei with high-quality talent cultivation and sci-tech innovation. Secretary Xie Jiangling of CPC BISTU Committee and President Guo Fu met with the delegation.

Zhao Wenfeng extended thanks to warm reception of the University. Following an introduction to social and economic development of Zhangjiazhou, he expressed that the City currently centered on six core industries, i.e., sports culture & tourism, snow & ice tourism, bid data, renewable energy resources, modern manufacturing, and green agriculture. Focus has been paid to strategic emerging industries such as big data and digitized scenarios to achieve high quality development with an innovation-oriented manner. BISTU had distinctive features in information technology and has witnessed outstanding achievements in talent cultivation and commercialization of research projects. Both parties had a lot to explore in respect of talent cultivation, sci-tech innovation, and commercialization of research projects. It was expected that both parties would build a win-win cooperation to make fresh contributions to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development.

Xie Jiangling expressed that city development planning of Zhangjiakou, with its vision and horizon, attached great importance to the six core industries. Its efforts in the field of big data were perfectly echoed in academic discipline patterns of the University, indicating a solid foundation and a great future of cooperation. In the first place, the University has the responsibility to contribute to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development in respect of education, science and technology, and talents. Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development is a national strategy and BISTU is shouldering the duties of implementing the latest requests of CPC Central Committee on Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development. Second, the University is willing to and capable of making contributions in this regard. Recent years have witnessed great progresses of BISTU in educational competence and talent cultivation. On the new phase of development, BISTU would take initiative in serving the big-picture development. And third, cooperation between both parties is now seeing a great space of development and a bright future in respect of talent cultivation, commercialization of research projects, and school-local government collaboration. It was hoped that both parties would orient towards future to contribute to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development.

Guo Fu offered an introduction to the University in respect of historical development, school-running orientation, three major educational features, and achievements in talent cultivation, with focus on strengths and experiences of the University in construction of the New Campus, industry-school integration, science-education integration, and school-local government integration. Guo Fu expressed that Zhangjiakou stuck to innovation-oriented development, focused on big data area, and spared no efforts to promoting in-depth integration of talents, innovation, and industries. Centering on national key strategies and the requirements of building Beijing into “four centers”, BISTU has conducted reform on “information plus”--- an innovated talent cultivation system and constantly enhanced the fit between Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development’s demand on talents and talent cultivation at the University. Sharing the same vision and orientation, both parties would find that cooperation was not only a necessary step for Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development but also an actual need for exchange and communication, mutual benefits, and high quality development. We expected that cooperation in multi-dimensions would be promoted and implemented to make greater contributions to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development.

A detailed introduction to policies and measures to support school-local government cooperation and innovation-oriented development was offered by Deputy Director Gao Jianfeng of Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology (working on secondment as Vice Mayor of Changping District of Beijing).

BISTU Vice President Xiao Zhisong produced an introduction to academic programs, academic disciplines, and progresses of academic research at the University.

Both parties also discussed other issues concerning future cooperation.

The meeting and discussions were attended by Vice Mayor Yan Liyan of Zhangjiakou, Director Wang Yong of Education Bureau of Zhangjiaokou as well as BISTU faculties and staff including Assistant to VP Zheng Yanpu and directors of General Administration Office, Office for Scientific Research, External Liaison Office, Academic Affairs Office, etc.
