Beijing, 12th December 2022 (BISTU)--- BISTU has been topping other peer institutions (874 universities and colleges) with a rank of A+ in terms of the number and quality of awards in National University Robotics Competition for four years in a row, according to University Robotics Competition Index of China published on 11th December 2022.

University Robotics Competition Index of China, published by Engineering Committee of China Association of Higher Education and Zhejiang University Robotics Institute, collected 216,640 pieces of data (inclusive of 188,945 on competitions and 27,695 on awards) in 25 robotics competitions for university students dated by 31st August 2022. An assessment model then was constructed based on two dimensions, i.e., contribution to awards and contribution to competitions.
University Robotics Competition Index of China (undergraduate, 2022) ranked top 50% institutions as A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, and C-. BISTU was ranked number one with an achievement of A+.
With strong confidence in building our nation with information technology, the University has been adjusting itself to the new round of technological and industrial revolution and invested efforts to building a cultivation system for talents of applied learning with distinctive features in information technology. Knowledge, competence, qualities, and comprehensive information technological skills of students were in line with the demand of all industries. Information technology was embedded in academic disciplines. A new engineering academic discipline cluster has been constructed centering on robotic structure, intelligent control, artificial intelligence, and system integration. As one of the earliest higher educational institutions who offered emerging programs in artificial intelligence, robotic engineering, data science and big data technology, intellisense engineering, etc., BISTU has been developing a number of academic disciplines with strengths, e.g., automation, electronic information, computer science, etc. Academic programs of traditional advantage such as mechanical engineering, instrumentation science, and electrical engineering were enhanced by artificial intelligence and internet of things. Sciences and humanities programs were strengthened by cloud computing, big data and virtual reality technology.
A robotic research platform has been built at the University based on 5 state-level teaching bases, key ministerial laboratories, and municipal level teaching and research bases. An attractive, challenging learning scenario for students has then been built in respect of robotic structure, control, system integration, etc., which formed a diversified model of cross-disciplinary talent cultivation. Various platforms and academic subject competitions have also offered students motivation and opportunities to nurture their academic interests and helped them in their individualized growth.
The past years have witnessed constant increase in innovative competence and comprehensive competitiveness of BISTU students. The University would continue to optimize layout of academic disciplines and deepen reform in the model of talent cultivation so as to achieve new heights in respect of talent cultivation quality.
