Beijing, 19th October 2023 (BISTU)---　Prof. Zhang Jian of BISTU was named 2023 “Beijing Scholar” together with 25 experts and scholars of various fields in Beijing, according to the recent notice published by Beijing Municipality.

Zhang Jian, professor, pace-setter of BISTU Innovation Team of Knowledge Management and Intelligent Decision Making, expert listed in National Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project, National Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions, Talents of Science, Technology and Management of Beijing with Outstanding Contributions, MOE Outstanding Talents of the New Century, and expert enjoying special allowance of the State Council, has long been engaging in researches on modeling and optimization of intelligent decision making, information system and knowledge management, digital culture and network communication, etc. He has chaired 1 State Key R&D project, 2 State-planning projects in science and technology, and 1 project sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation, in addition to a number of awards such as the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize of National Business Science and Technology Progress Award, Mao Yisheng Prize for Young Talents in Science and Technology, etc.  

Beijing Scholar is a talent project approved by Beijing Municipal Government in the end of 2012 as the highest level planning in high-caliber talents cultivation, aiming at facilitating team building of high level professional talents in Beijing and promoting the objective of building Beijing into a sci-tech innovation center with global influence. The listed scholars are scientists, engineers, and renowned scholars in natural science, engineering, science and technology, social sciences, and philosophy. It is known as building reserve team for academician selection in Beijing. The Project was conducted every two years and three BISTU faculties, i.e., Xu Xiaoli, Zhu Lianqing, and Su Zhong, have been listed as Beijing Scholar.  

CPC BISTU Committee has attached great importance to issues concerning talent development. Emphasis has been putting on academic discipline development and encouragement of innovation in scientific research. More work and effort would be done in the future in this regard to provide talent support with our objective of building a high level university with distinctive feature in information technology.
