Beijing, 4th March 2024 (BISTU)--- AI Lab, the team supervised by Wang Chao of Computer Science School, won a gold medal in Beijing Finals of Maker in 2023 Beijing · Ascend AI Innovation Competition held in Beijing the end of last year.  

The 2023 Beijing · Ascend AI Innovation Competition, a top level AI competition for AI developers initiated by Huawei, encouraged developers to explore algorithms and software/hardware solutions based on Ascend and facilitated integration of AI in various industries. The 2023 Competition, themed on “Digital future for you”, was composed of two parts, i.e., applications and innovation display of developers, which attracted 206 teams from enterprises, higher educational institutions, and research institutes.  

Shining in the part of innovation display of developers, AI Lab was facing with strong competitors who were mainly postgraduate students of universities or contestants from AI innovation enterprises. Within limited time, the team finally completed all necessary work and won the gold medal of Beijing Finals.  

School of Computer Science has been following the principle of “promoting learning and teaching via competitions” and encouraged students and faculties to attend various academic competitions. It proved that students’ professional skills and faculties teaching competences have been effectively improved while experiences on innovative development of AI and computer technology at BISTU.
