Beijing, 1st June 2023 (BISTU)--- Jointly organized by BISTU Institute of Intelligent Telecommunications and Computing and School of Telecommunications Engineering of Xidian University, the academic seminar on 6G frontier technology successfully completed at Jianxiangqiao Campus of BISTU on 25th May 2023. Associate Professor Gao Feifei of Tsinghua University delivered the report chaired by Secretary Li Xuehua of School of Communication Engineering Commission of CPC BISTU Committee (Director of BISTU Institute of Intelligent Telecommunications and Computing). The seminar, as one of the activities for virtual teaching research in telecommunications principles, attracted around 200 faculties and students from all over China.
As a renowned young scholar in information and telecommunications, Gao Feifei delivered the report titled “Key technologies of wireless communication based on environmental visual perception”. He shared his latest research achievements in AI-based integrated sensing and communication. The report started with fundamental telecommunications models, explored future development of telecommunications, and offered information on latest academic progress in theory and technology of visual fusion telecommunications, including building associated dataset “visual plus communication”, key telecommunications technologies based on visual perception, key telecommunications technologies for visual perception in intelligent workshops, and wireless telecommunications-based visual perception technologies. Prof. Gao also communicated with faculties and students presenting the Seminar on possible integration between visual perception telecommunications and NOMA and near field communication.
The Seminar provided strong support with high quality academic exchange and communication and integration of research and teaching. It showed the latest research achievements and application cases of visual perception telecommunications. Faculties and students were expectant of the coming 6G where all would be interconnected in an intelligent manner.
Gao Feifei has been with the Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, where he is currently an Associate Professor. He has authored/coauthored more than 150 refereed IEEE journal articles and more than 150 IEEE conference proceeding papers that are cited more than 15000 times in Google Scholar. His research interests include signal processing for communications, array signal processing, and artificial intelligence assisted communications. He has served as an Editor for IEEE Transactions on Communications and IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, a Lead Guest Editor for IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processing, a Senior Editor for IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking and IEEE Signal Processing Letters, and an Area Editor for IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, and China Communications. He has also served as the Symposium Co-Chair for 2019 IEEE Conference on Communications (ICC), 2018 IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference Spring (VTC), 2015 IEEE Conference on Communications (ICC), 2014 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), and 2014 IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference Fall (VTC), and a technical committee member for more than 50 IEEE conferences.
