BISTU Computer Science School Honored in the 16th International Robot and Simulation Technology Competition

Beijing, 13th October 2023 (BISTU)--- Teams of BISTU School of Computer Science were honored with two first prizes, one second prize and two third prizes on the 16th International Robot and Simulation Technology Competition and Wang Chao was awarded as an outstanding supervisor. The teams won a gold medal in 2D ball game simulation, a silver medal in water-ball 2v2, and outstanding prizes in artificial intelligent logistics challenge.

International Robot and Simulation Technology Competition (formerly known as “International Underwater Robotics Competition”) was sponsored by China Simulation Federation. It is so far the only high end academic subject competition initiated by Chinese universities and attended by higher educational institutions around the world. More than 300 universities were attracted to the Competition. Aiming at promoting talent cultivation in robotics as a university academic discipline, facilitating the application of simulation technology in design, development and experiment of robotics, and building a platform of mutual learning and friendship for robot development and application, the Competition has been successfully organized for 15 sessions since 2008 and was extensively welcomed among students and faculties. In 2019, it was included in robotics competition index for Chinese university students by China Association of Higher Education. The 16th Competition fell into five categories, i.e., intelligent sea, industry-teaching integration, competition-teaching integration, innovation and entrepreneurship, and simulation technology, on 74 items in 31 groups. It was a record high in terms of the scale.

AI logistic robot was a new competition-oriented product developed by AI Association of Computer Science School in 2023. With concerted efforts and guidance and support from Superior Wang Chao, the team has conducted a number of discussions and finally found the optimal solution to tracking-based object fetching.

School of Computer Science would continue to guide students in learning and applying sciences, technologies and engineering knowledge to tackling real-life problems in a creative manner. When students were meeting with challenges, their critical thinking, the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, and team spirit would be strengthened, which was just the aim of the School— cultivating outstanding computer talents for our nation.
