Beijing, 15th December 2023 (BISTU)--- “Star & Role Models at BISTU: 2023 Awarding Ceremony for Students”, addressed by Secretary Xie Jiangling of CPC BISTU Committee and President Guo Fu and chaired by Deputy Secretary Wang Wenjie of CPC BISTU Committee, was held on 15th December 2023 at Shahe Campus.  

On the Ceremony, BISTU officially published VI--- the visual identity system--- and the name for the new public squares of Shahe Campus. In addition to the impressive VI, the two squares were respectively named as Youth Square and Azure Sky. Carrying a good hope of all BISTUers, they added on the long list achievements and efforts of BISTU in cultural construction.  

Xie Jiangling and Guo Fu unveiled the university mascot---BISRabbit, transliteration of BISTU in Chinese pronunciation. It aligns with the university motto “diligence in learning and honor for life”, symbolizing the lively spirits of BISTU students and their courage in rising to difficulties.  

On behalf of CPC BISTU Committee and the University, Xie Jiangling extended warm congratulations to faculties and teams which were commended and paid tribute to faculties for their dedication to education. Xie Jiangling expressed that the year 2023 saw major part of the University moved into Shahe Campus, a complete set of talent cultivation system was established incorporating undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral education, school-local government integration was enhanced, and the University gained substantial support from both municipal government and related ministries. It symbolized high quality development of the University and told us that we were on the best of our times. It is a time that all students, faculties and staff should shoulder their responsibilities, make progresses, and temper ourselves for future outstanding performances. He noted that students should work hard to become shining young people with great love, dreams, good qualities, and tenacity. Development of self should be integrated in development of our nation. The Chinese dream of great rejuvenation of Chinese nation provided the best stage. It was hoped that students would prepare themselves better here at BISTU and achieve their dreams in serving development of our country. Meanwhile, we should attach importance to morality and integrity. We should love ourselves, enjoy the life, and pursue our dreams. We were to work together with courage to build a new bright future for the University. Xie Jiangling said.  

The Commendation Ceremony was composed of three major parts, i.e., Youth & Piloting, Youth & Accountability, and Youth & Preeminence.  

Youth & Piloting saw Xie Jiangling present awards to winners of excellent student counselors and Guo Fu present awards to winners of outstanding class supervisor, outstanding part-time student counselors, and supervisors of excellent students’ societies and associations. Assistant to VP Zheng Yanpu and Dean Liu Guili of Applied Technology School presented awards to outstanding organizers and winners of innovation award in the 7th Science and Technology Innovation Festival.  

Youth & Accountability witnessed Assistant to VP Lin Guoce and Secretary Li Wanfu of Applied Sciences School Commission of CPC BISTU Committee present awards to winners of outstanding social practices and outstanding volunteers. Director Niu Zhiying of United Front Work Department (member of Standing Committee of CPC BISTU Committee) and Secretary He Fang of Foreign Studies School Commission of CPC BISTU Committee presented awards to winners of outstanding party branches in revolutionary “1+1” event. Director Du Shizhi of Publicity Department (member of Standing Committee of CPC BISTU Committee) and Secretary Liu Bin presented awards to winners of outstanding students leaders and Merit Students. Director Li Huatao of Organizational Department (member of Standing Committee of CPC BISTU Committee) and Dean Zhao Ailing of Marxism School presented awards to winners of “Diligence and Honor” classes. Vice President Xiao Zhisong and Secretary Chen Bing presented awards to winners of outstanding veteran students.  

Youth & Preeminence saw Vice President Ye Xiangzhong and Secretary Jin Chunhua of Economics and Management School Commission of CPC BISTU Committee present awards to winners of academic subject competitions and outstanding students in art and sports performances. Wang Wenjie and Secretary Liang Xu of Computer Science School Commission of CPC BISTU Committee presented awards to winners of National Encouragement Scholarship. Guo Fu, Li Xuehua (Secretary & Dean of Information and Communication Engineering School) and Secretary Jia Bin of Automation School Commission of CPC BISTU Committee presented awards to winners of President Scholarship and International Student Scholarship. Xie Jiangling, Secretary Ma Xiangyu of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronic Engineering School Commission of CPC BISTU Committee and Secretary Han Junyan of Electromechanical Engineering School Commission of CPC BISTU Committee presented awards to winners of China National Scholarship.  

The Ceremony was concluded with a chorus performed by students and faculties. In retrospect, BISTUers bear in mind the original aspiration and have made one after another achievement. Looking to the future, we would keep going and build a better tomorrow with our endeavor.  

The Ceremony motivated all BISTUers to learn from role models around and to become young people of our times with big-picture thinking, patriotism, professional skills, accountability, and integrity. It is convinced that students, faculties and staff of the University,  following the university motto “diligence in learning and honor for life”, will jointly strive to building a high level university with distinctive feature in information technology!  

The Ceremony was attended by all senior administrators, directors of related divisions and offices, representatives of faculties, and over 1,000 students.
