Beijing, 5th January 2024 (BISTU)--- Aiming at exploring cross-field integration and promoting high quality development via resource sharing and exchange, China Conservatory of Music delegation headed by Secretary Wang Xudong of China Conservatory of Music Committee and President Li Xincao visited BISTU on 5th January 2024 and met with Secretary Xie Jiangling of CPC BISTU Committee and President Guo Fu.

Xie Jiangling extended warm welcome to the delegation. He offered an introduction to historical development and educational features of the University, in addition to achievements that BISTU has made in respect of new campus construction, talent cultivation, and services provided for national and municipal development. He expressed that BISTU, as an engineering-oriented university, had attached equal importance to cultivation of humanistic qualities of students and has been working on building a comprehensive system of aesthetic education. China Conservatory of Music has made outstanding achievements in inheriting fine traditional Chinese music culture with its profound foundation in arts. It was hoped that both institutions would bring their respective strengths into full play, strengthen the consensus, locate the right points of cooperation, and build a pattern of mutual support and coordinated development so as to make our due contributions to prosperity of our nation.

Following his thanks to the warm reception of BISTU, Wang Xudong expressed that BISTU had a long history and a solid foundation for academic research. Construction and relocation of the new campus has greatly improved the educational environment. The University now saw great momentum in development and bright prospect in future. Both institutions were shouldering the responsibility of building China into a country with a strong socialist culture. It was then necessary to conduct communication and exchange. Mutual complementary of strengths would facilitate high quality development of both institutions. Wang Xudong said.

Guo Fu expressed that BISTU has attached great importance to education quality in the past years. Features of the University have been constantly enhanced in information technology and industries. BISTU took initiative in building academic disciplines related to information technology, nurturing emerging interdisciplinary academic disciplines, and building a high level university with distinctive feature in information technology. BISTU and China Conservatory of Music were friendly neighbors and both have made outstanding contributions in their respective areas. It was expected that cooperation between the two institutions would be strengthened with innovated pathways to explore organic integration between arts and sci-tech and between professional knowledge and aesthetic education. Information technology then would be applied to empowerment of art development and art, in return, would promote effectiveness of talent cultivation. Meanwhile, both institutions could conduct concrete collaboration in academic exchange, interdisciplinary disciplines, and commercialization of research achievements to explore new models for supporting high quality development of Beijing.

Li Xincao spoke highly of the achievements that BISTU has made in the past two years in aesthetic education. Integration of art and modern science and technology was the demand of our time and the orientation of future development. It would create a greater room for innovation and development. Following his introduction to ideological and political education conducted at China Conservatory of Music, he expressed that both institutions could work together in a number of areas, such as talent cultivation, academic exchange, ideological and political education, field practice in arts, etc. China Conservatory of Music would provide due support in respect of aesthetic educational resources, developing orchestras and art ensembles, art seminars and performances, etc. It was also hoped that both institutions would work together on cross-disciplinary integration to nurture more innovative talents of high quality.
Deputy Secretary Wang Wenjie of CPC BISTU Committee offered an explanation on vision, pathways, and possible measures with regard to cooperation between both institutions in the field of resources sharing, aesthetic education, high level seminars, on-campus cultural lectures, on-campus art performances, professional guidance, etc.
Director Mi Jie of Academic Affairs Office offered an introduction to aesthetic education system at BISTU and achievements that the University has made. Secretary Wang Han of University Youth League Committee introduced art associations of the University and corresponding extracurricular activities.
Discussions on future exchange and cooperation were also joined by faculties and staff of China Conservatory of Music, including Director Hu Yong of General Administration Office (member of the Standing Committee of CPC China Conservatory of Music Committee), Director Zhang Jianmin of Financial Office, Director Xu Quan of Teaching Service Center, and Director Fan Xiaomin of Art Practice Center.


Prior to the meeting and discussions, Wang Xudong, Li Xincao and delegation members were showed around the sand table of planning, student development center, and students’ theater.
The meeting was also attended by directors of BISTU General Administration Office, Financial Office, and Logistic Management Department.
