Chen Xin Visited Spanish and French Universities

Beijing, 18th June 2024 (BISTU)--- Aiming at strengthening exchange and cooperation with European higher educational institutions and promoting high-level educational and cultural exchanges in the new era, BISTU delegation headed by Vice President Chen Xin visited University of Salamanca, Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio, EPSI Ecole Privée des Sciences Informatiques, and WIS L’école [tech] de l’expertise digitale in Spain and France.

José Miguel Sánchez Llorente, Chief Executive Officer of International School of University of Salamanca, met with BISTU delegation. Following introductions to educational history, development, and academic strengths of BISTU and Salamanca, both institutions conducted discussions on academic disciplines, talent cultivation, and academic research. José Miguel expressed that BISTU’s distinctive feature and academic strengths in information technology are very impressive. The University of Salamanca offers doctoral degree programs in the field of computer, electronic engineering, and artificial intelligence, indicating a bright future of cooperation. Chen Xin said that the University of Salamanca, as one of the earliest universities in Europe, is also the earliest institution of the world to offer Spanish teaching and research. He is quite impressed with the cultural richness of the University and collections of the library. He looked forward to strengthen cooperation between both institutions and promote cultural exchanges between the two countries. 

Chen Xin met with Dr. José María Sandoval, Director of International Expansion, and Antonio Alcántara, Director of International Relations, at Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio. Both institutions explored feasibility of cooperation in the field of talent cultivation, academic research, educational resources sharing, etc. Then BISTU delegation visited teaching facilities and held talks with faculty and students of the University. 

In France, Chen Xin and delegation members visited EPSI Ecole Privée des Sciences Informatiques and the Lyon Campus and Paris Campus of WIS L’école [tech] de l’expertise digitale. Johan Verstraete, Directeur Général des écoles EPSI and Arnaud Merri, Director of FIGS Education, extended warm welcome to BISTU delegation. Following discussions on cultivation of talents of applied learning, academic collaboration, student exchange programs, and faculty training programs, BISTU and EPSI reached consensus on cooperation and signed memorandum of understanding. 

The visit to Spanish and French institutions expanded global exchange and communication of BISTU, laid foundation for in-depth cooperation between BISTU and European institutions, and boosted the progress of educational globalization of the University. 

The delegation members included Director Cao Lin of Office for Scientific Research, Director Mu Jie of Bidding and Purchasing Office, and Dean Zhang Wei of Computer Science School.
