Beijing , September 18 (BISTU) – BISTU President Liu Gonghui and Vice President Xu Baojie met Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Chacellor John G. Veres III on Thursday morning. The meeting saw the discussion on further cooperation between the two universities and the appointment ceremony of Chancellor Veres III’s honorary professorship and honorary membership of academic committee at BISTU.

In the meeting, President Liu introduced BISTU’s development since Chancellor Veres’ visit to BISTU in 2010. Liu expressed BISTU’s vision to become a teaching & research-oriented university from an teaching-oriented one and the university’s efforts in improving education quality, scientific research and international exchange. Liu stated that BISTU is now seeking a higher level of students exchange which focused on master and Ph.D. students.
Chancellor Veres also introduced the strategic plan of AUM in the next 5 years and its achievement in recent years. According to Veres, AUM is bettering its service to international students by improving infrastructure and optimizing mechanism. He hoped that this visit will bring the cooperation between AUM and BISTU to a new level.
Due to his accomplishments in teaching and research, Chancellor Veres is appointed honorary professor and honorary member of academic committee of BISTU. President Liu announced the appointment and issued certificates to Chancellor Veres.

Discussion on further cooperation between BISTU and AUM was held after the awarding ceremony, consensus was reached on cooperative education in area of information system. The practical implementation of the cooperation will be carried out by competent departments from both institutions.
Chancellor Veres also gave an presentation to BISTU students in an information session of AUM in his visit to BISTU.
