Beijing , September 18 (BISTU)--- Prof. Liu Gonghui, President of BISTU and Vice President Xu Baojie met Prof. Kazuyuki Murase and Dr. Kouki Nagamune from University of Fukui, Japan on 17th December. Both institutions agreed on joint doctoral degree programmes and joint research projects. University of Fukui is the first international institution with whom BISTU initiated joint doctoral programmes, with BISTU students having been sent there early in September 2013.

In the past ten years of cooperation, over 30 BISTU students have been selected for exchange programme between BISTU and University of Fukui. With students’ academic excellence having been widely recognized and accepted, two institutions reached mutual consent that cooperation should be expanded and deepened in May 2013 when University of Fukui was attending an international forum hosted at BISTU.
On the meeting, Prof. Liu Gonghui signed MOU and agreement on student exchange with University of Fukui. Agreement was also signed between bio science and engineering laboratory computer assisted diagnosis laboratory of university of Fukui and corresponding department of BISTU.

Prof. Liu Gonghui welcomed distinguished guests from University of Fukui and briefly introduced BISTU in respect of research and international cooperation. He stressed that as one of the earliest global partners of BISTU, University of Fukui has become the key destination for BISTU students in obtaining international knowledge and experience. The MOU signed between two institutions ignited new opportunities for future cooperation of mutual benefit.

Prof. Xu Baojie awarded the certificate of Honoured Professorship to Prof. Kazuyuki Murase, the first international doctoral supervisor of BISTU. As a well-known expert on neuron studies and artificial intelligence, Prof. Kazuyuki Murase said it was a great honour to be appointed as Honoured Professor of BISTU. He introduced University of Fukui and the doctoral programmes, including requirements on doctoral dissertation. Dr. Kouki Nagamune talked aboutdoctoral research in his lab.

University of Fukui delegation also visited key laboratory of modern measurement and control technology (Ministry of Education),followed by an academic report for BISTU postgraduate students.

Also present at the meeting is Prof. Wang Jiuhe, Standing Vice Dean of Postgraduate School, Prof. Xu Xiaoli, Director of key laboratory of modern measurement and control technology (Ministry of Education),Prof. Lu Jing, Director of International Cooperation Department, and Prof. Huang Min. Vice Dean of School of Electromechanical Engineering.
