Beijing, 16th July, 2021 (BISTU)— Closing ceremony of “Diligence, Honor, Digital, Intelligence: BISTU 2021 Artificial Intelligence Training for Postgraduate Students”, addressed by Vice President Yu Shijie, successfully completes on 15th July 2021 on Xiaoying Campus. The Ceremony is hosted by Executive Vice Dean Wang Xingfen (Director of Postgraduate Office) and attended by all postgraduate students, faculties of Postgraduate School, and faculties of Beijing Big Data Research Institute.
Yu Shijie speaks positively of the series of trainings organized by Postgraduate School on frontier information technology and presents certificates of awards to trainees of excellence. Offering his understanding of the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the Conference of Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of Chinese Communist Party, Yu Shijie encourages postgraduate students to commit to great rejuvenation of Chinese nation, seize the day and live it to the fullest. He mentions that the 3rd Party Congress of BISTU has successfully completed and we have made major breakthroughs in our three historical missions. Postgraduate students shall be able to apply what they have learned to practice, combine frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence with actual problems in research practices. Research Fellow Ou Gaoyan of Beijing Big Data Research Institute offers an introduction to thinking and development of the training. He points out that BISTU, after years of exploration, has developed unique features in talent cultivation in respect of frontier areas of information technology such as big data and artificial intelligence. BISTU is now playing a leading and model role in talent cultivation among its peer universities.
The training lasts for one week and accommodates around 100 postgraduate students of BISTU. Combining theories with practices, the training covers technology of intelligent analysis, theory and practice of machine learning, deep learning, etc. Courses and seminars are delivered by professors and experts from University of International Business and Economics, Jingdong, 4Paradigm, etc. Follow-up training will be organized both online and offline to support students in completing their field research projects.
Learning experiences are shared by Zou Meng of School of Computer Science and Lu Dongyue of School of Information Management. They are very grateful that the University has offered such a valuable opportunity of learning, which broadens their horizon and enhances their competence in producing solutions to actual problems.
BISTU has organized 5 sessions of trainings on frontier information technology for postgraduate students. They are very good tries in exploring new pathways of nurturing innovation-oriented talents at high-level universities of applied learning with distinctive features in information technology. More measures of the kind would be taken in the future to strengthen innovation and practical competence of BISTU students.
