Prof. Theodore F. Morse of Brown University Appointed Honorary Professor of BISTU

Beijing, 23rd June, 2016(BISTU)--- On BISTU Honorary Professor Appointment ceremony for Professor Theodore F. Morse of Brown University, hosted by Vice President Xu Baojie, letter of appointment was presented to Professor Theodore Morse by Vice President Han Qiushi. 

 

Xu Baojie extends warm welcome to Professor Morse and his delegation and offers a brief introduction to BISTU. Educational internationalization has always been a crucial part of BISTU. Professor Morse as an honorary professor brings in new power and will be a great propeller for development of international joint lab for advanced opto-electronic technology. Says Xu Baojie.  

 

Human Resources Division Director Chen Xin introduces academic achievements and announces the University’s decision on appointment Prof. Morse with Honorary Professor of BISTU.  

Professor Morse is Professor of Brown University and one of the top experts in the field of optical fiber research. His major research focuses include Optical fiber fabrication, lasers, and sensors. Prof. Morse was Director of Lightwave Technology at Brown University and Lightwave Technology at Boston University. He established the first university lab with a new stateof- the-art Nextrom MCVD system and an optical fiber draw tower amongst US universities. His students include famous presidents and technology directors of multinationals, such as president of Lucent Technologies, technology director of Nufern Optical Fiber Company, etc. 

Prof. Morse expresses that he is very happy to join BISTU and expects to contribute to the development of international joint lab for advanced opto-electronic technology and share his research achievements. Prof. Morse positively comments on BISTU’s research progress with optoelectronics and sensors. He says that he will fulfill his duty as an honorary professor and work closely together with research teams of BISTU to achievement more in research.   

Scientific Research Director Xing Jishou also introduced to the delegation BISTU research achievements, research interests and focuses, and future development of research activities.     

The meeting is also attended by Director of International Cooperation Department Dr. Lu Jing, Director of Key Lab of Opto-electronic Testing Technology Zhu Lianqing, Dean of School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronics Engineering Dong Mingli and Vice Dean Lou Xiaoping.  

 Following the meeting, Prof. Morse delivers an academic report on System for Ultra-high Resolution Digital X-ray Imaging and shares his research in progress--- studies on opto-electronic technology and its application on medical area.
