Beijing, 5th May 2023 (BISTU)--- The first awarding ceremony for BISTU May Fourth Medal winners, attended by Secretary Wang Chuanliang of CPC BISTU Committee, all senior administrators, deans and secretaries of BISTU schools, directors of offices and divisions, and representatives of faculties, staff, and students, completed on 4th May 2023 at Taihanglu Campus. It was aimed at commending BISTUers who have made outstanding contributions to serve national strategy, development of Beijing, and development of the University and motivating all BISTU students to write a new, brighter chapter in the New Era with their youth and strength.  

On behalf of CPC BISTU Committee, Deputy Secretary Wang Wenjie extended warmest greetings to all young people for the May Fourth holiday and sincere congratulations to all award winners. Wang Wenjie expressed that appraisal of May Fourth Medal would set up role models for young generation, motivate BISTU students to bear in mind their original aspiration, and encourage them to become well-developed young people of the New Era who were courageous to shoulder responsibilities.  

On the awarding ceremony, BISTU senior administrators respectively presented awards to 12 winners of “May Fourth Medal” and 10 winners for nomination of “May Fourth Medal”.  

“Footprint”, poem recitation performed by BISTU students, followed the awarding ceremony. Role models having been established, all BISTUers would follow their footprints with resolution and courage.  

As representatives of award winners, Liu Ziwei from School of Information and Communication Engineering and Liu Ning (teacher) from School of Automation shared their experiences with all audiences.  

“BISTU has built what I am today. BISTU taught me to be honest and earnest in life and work. As secretary of student party branch, I knew I shall provide service and guidance. I knew that I shall be courageous and do my part when covid-19 pandemic spread here. I knew that I have missions as a young Chinese. Now I am graduating from the University and embarking on a way leading to my future. Winning the May Fourth Medal made me aware that I shall carry the BISTU torch forward and that my mission is to light up where it is needed.” Liu Ziwei said.  

Liu Ning commented that “the University has accelerated cooperation with Henanzhai Town of Miyun District since the 20th CPC National Congress. Based on the Practice Training Base for Rural Revitalization, we were providing acts of service with villages and towns around step by step: from building We Media platforms to connectivity among E-businesses, from transformation of agricultural digitization to rural social governance, and from science and technology training for farmers to science education offered to primary school students. Under the leadership of CPC BISTU Committee and guided by high dynamic navigation technology, we would continue to contribute to rural revitalization.” 

The awarding ceremony was concluded with ensembles “Glory to Chinese Communist Youth League” and “Together with Motherland” performed by faculties, staff, and students.  

Young generation of BISTU would follow these role models to accumulate knowledge, enhance abilities, and strengthen professional skills so as to shoulder the glorious mission of our times. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and targeted at rejuvenation of Chinese nation, we would endeavor to build a high level university with distinctive feature in information technology.
