Beijing, 20th October 2023 (BISTU)---　BISTU delegation headed by President Guo Fu visited Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan University (WHU), and Wuhan University of Technology (WHUT) to implement the guideline of BISTU conference on science and technology, strengthen inter-school exchange and communication, coordinate educational resources, and promote high quality development.  

 

Guo Fu offered an introduction to BISTU in respect of historical development, academic discipline construction, academic programs, talent cultivation, and construction of the New Campus with focus on academic research, commercialization of research achievements, and dedication to service of national and municipal strategic development. Learning from advanced experiences of HUST, WHU and WHUT in the area of talent cultivation, academic discipline construction, development of doctoral programs, science and technology innovation, and high level platform construction would help BISTU in a number of aspects. We also hope to enhance inter-school exchange and cooperation to explore high level cooperation in a wide spectrum of areas to provide support and new momentum for national and regional development. Guo Fu said.  

  

 

At HUST, the delegation met with President You Zheng (Vice President of China Association for Science and Technology and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering). Experiences and practices in high level platform construction and measures taken on organized research were respectively shared by Research Development Office of HUST, Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, and School of Integrated Circuits. Survey was also conducted on University History Gallery, Faculty and Student Service Center, Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, and Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center in respect of building sci-tech innovation bases, providing services with faculties and students, and developing research institutes.  

  

 

The delegation met with Secretary Huang Taiyan of CPC Wuhan University Committee. Following an introduction to related practices of Wuhan University in building high level research platforms and conducting organized research, Huang Taiyan pointed out that BISTU had distinctive features in information technology and industries. Connectivity between BISTU and WHU would be strengthened in the future to deepen cooperation and achieve mutual benefit in talent cultivation, high level research platforms, sci-tech innovation, and contribution to regional development.  

  

 

Secretary Xin Sijin of CPC WHUT Committee extended warm welcome to Guo Fu and delegation members. Xin Sijin offered an introduction to WHUT with details on its features in industries and experiences in building high level research platforms. Guo Fu and delegation members visited National Engineering Laboratory for Fiber Optic Sensing Technology, State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, and State Key Laboratory of Silicate Materials for Architectures to learn from their experiences in managing key laboratories.  

BISTU delegation also met with Deputy Secretary Ma Jianhui of CPC HUST Committee, Vice President Gong Wei of Wuhan University, and Vice President Liu Chunjiang of Wuhan University of Technology. The survey and discussions were attended by Vice President Chen Xin, Director Zhu Lianqing of MOE Key Laboratory of Photo Electronics Measurement and Testing Technology and Instruments (second-tier professor), Dean Dong Mingli of Dean of BISTU School of Instrumentation Science and Optoelectronics Engineering, and directors of General Administration Office and Office for Scientific Research.
